I've been asked to do a work trip; LST - NAN (late May, early June). I'm not paying for it so have limited control over cost. Basically the bean counters will keep it cheap but I may have some influence as to choices.
I have silver status with Qantas which might just tip over to gold by the time I fly and I've a reasonable amount of points available. Suggestions as to flights and their upgrade potential would be much appreciated.

As the flight will not be on QF Metal you can not use then to upgrade your flight on Air Fiji.

Seeing as QF own 46pc one would think they'd be able to work out an upgrade deal like they did with LAN

Indeed but alas they cant even sort out lounge access for Gold and WP in Nadi even when on a QF Flight number

It's not sounding good :(. Anyone got some encouraging news?

Don't expect much from the lounge, used it twice last October, small showers, stained lounges, very dated looking.

You can pay to upgrade at check in if you book fiji air. I don't think it was that expensive from memory, but business wasn't much of an upgrade!

Yes we did that on a midnight flight to NAN a year or so ago. Wasn't too expensive to upgrade to J although the seats are really PE

Agree that it is a fairly basic lounge. The whole airport is currently undergoing a MAJOR upgrade at the moment and that actually makes the lounge VERY attractive.
Non of the upstairs waiting areas are available just a couple of hot, stuffy crowded areas downstairs.

Is the upgrade cost comparable to the difference between the original fares or is it more like "we've got these seats empty anyway, so a few more $'s and they're yours.."?

Thanks to everyone who contributed. It looks as though I've been booked VA locally and Air Fiji directly from SYD to SUV. I'll have to see what I can do to improve the latter part of the journey. I'll report back in a couple of weeks and let you know how it panned out.

Their A330 J is great but.
Just got back yesterday after doing NAN-LAX return on the 330 and I thought that it was good but not fantastic. Found everything a little cramped and when the seat is out for sleep there is not much room in the well for your feet. Plenty of little spaces, slots and storage for your bits and bob's and good service. Food not fantastic.
