UNBROKEN

The life of , an Olympic athlete who joined the armed forces during the second world war. Only to be captured by the Japanese navy after an almost fatal plane crash in the Pacific. After the Japanese have him, they send him to a refugee camp, only to face daring challenges head on.

This is a true story about POW's in WW2. Emotional story definitely worth watching

You can skip Birdman - good acting but very, very average story.

I also enjoyed this movie.

Both this movie and The Imitation Game are about real people and not some super hero

+1 for American Sniper and The Imitation Game. I also thought The Theory of Everything was good. Selma was ok too - informative.

Boyhood, although interesting as a 12 year production, didn't really impress me.

Just ssaw "The Imitation Game" on the weekend. Terrific

Am reading the book on which the film is based - The Enigma (biography of Alan Turing). Bloody hard going, mainly because of the turgid and somewhat pompous style of the author. When I saw the preface was 32 pages long, I knew it was going to be a bit of a slog.

Unbroken is worth watching, great movie, some of the scenes I thought were exaggerated are true to life I was surprised he survived with what he had to go through.

Saw Birdman, wait until you see it on the plane.

One I want to see is Paper Planes, I am sure an airline will have it on the play list in the next few months.

Just watched most of "The Equalizer" on MH yesterday. Want to watch the last 30 minutes now, what's with turning off IFE on decent, 30 mins prior to landing and 45 minutes prior to being at the gate......

Watched the equalizer with the in laws/family. They just did not get the premise of the movie at all. I put this down to them probably missing the 1980s series because they lived in a remote area. However, it wasn't that hard to understand was it?

My recommendation is The Kingsman. It's a British spy film that doesn't take itself very seriously. It was a lot of fun and reminds me of the light-hearted approach taken by the older James Bond films.

I definitely agree on American Sniper and Imitation Game and I'll add Wild to the list to.

It's a good time to be starting a thread such as this, as we're about to have one of the biggest box office years ever.
Usually there's a few key times each year when the big films are released. But this year, the schedule is so full that we'll see a pretty steady stream of big releases.

Got to watch an annoying arrival video instead.

Happened to me the oterh hoping I was going to watch the rest of an unfinished movie on the sector from KUL to SIN. Even though it was operating on boarding, they turned it off 30 mins prior to landing (ie. on takeoff) and didn't turn it back on. Oddly the week before going from SIN to KUL they kept IFE on from boarding to arrival at gate and I managed to watch a whole movie (OK... we were delayed out of SIN by an hour due to thunderstorm).

Saw them filming some scenes in Pitt St, so keen to see how it worked out.

Didn't know it was an 80's series, but really liked the movie. Got to see the last of it on EK today, but had to go searching for it, and was very pleased I did. It probably would have made a lot more sense to your inlaws if it was Chuck Norris and not Denzel Washington in the lead role. Denzel with The Equalizer, Flight, and 2 Guns to name a few of his recent one could argue is really having him gunning to take over Chuck Norris.

Yeah that arrival video into KUL on MH is very long, didn't mind it as a one off, but did notice it took up most of the 30 minutes of decent. SIN-KUL they switched off IFE about 10 minutes prior to landing, but I was only listening to music - but no arrival video. KUL-SIN was on an older 737 and no IFE. Off topic, but when we arrived in KUL after our 40 odd minute flight SIN-KUL, we had a 40 minute wait to deplane with the air bridge not working, and them trying to drag it into place with a tug - in the end they just towed us to another gate. I just did SIN-KUL-PVG-KUL-SIN - 737-777-330-737 all in J with MH.

The 100 Foot Journey with Helen Mirren is a good film to watch on an airplane - very entertaining and doesn't need much concentration (ie you can pause it and come back later after food or sleep). That's not a put down; its a great film.

Q. Why would you watch this film?
