MPC Seat Guarantee Savings

You may have heard of Seat Guarantees in other FFPs such as Qantas who offer you the ability to 'force' a seat on a full flight (usually in full fare Economy) - CX offers something similar although of far more value:

Essentially, provided CX has sold any of the Fare Buckets listed, they will sell you a seat in your preferred class even if the Bucket has sold out (and as long as 72 hours beforehand for Golds and 24 hours for Diamonds).

At peak periods this could add up to hefty savings, for example on an upcoming flight SYD-HKG-BOM return in December the best offer on CX.com was for a B/V fare totalling $2340AUD, as an MPC GO I am able to call the AU Sales Office and request they book me in M Class at only $1800AUD (I could request V for an even cheaper fare however I intend to upgrade the entire itinerary to PE for 30k Asia Miles).

Quite a handy benefit and a good way to extract more value from your membership. Seat Guarantee bookings ex-AU must be processed by the AU Sales Office.

Could you book directly with the AU Sales Office?

I've actually only used this once and I didn't know how to do it so I ended up calling the MPO DM line first and they 'ticketed' for me, then I had to call reservations the next day to pay for the ticket with my CC to confirm. Would've been much easier had I known that you could call the AU office straight away!

This benefit is actually pretty amazing tbh. Not only do they guarantee you a seat, for those who are able to use it, there's a good chance of an op-up as well because naturally you'd only use this on full flights.

Yep you can book directly they will usually allow you to hold the booking also for a couple of days
