Mr Shouty in the lounge

I always notice the shouting phone user who paces back and forth in a specific range across footpaths and train platforms as u try to get past. They normally throw in sudden arm movements that u cannot predict and often seem to bellow non stop so I'm not sure if anyone is even on the other end of the phone.

Was standing on the platform at South Yarra train station the other day and had a fellow literally walking in circles around and around me while carrying on like a pork chop on his phone
I don't think he consciously realised what he was doing, but even so, he's lucky I'm a tolerant man.

Or the classic "I'm at the airport waiting for the plane"

Nothing too wrong with this IMO as it makes clear why you are at the airport as opposed to "just got off the plane, dropping off or picking up people, having a meeting or conference." all reasons I have given when taking or making a call.
I do not know about you but I have been at airports for a variety of reasons, not just waiting to catch a flight. Heck my wife and I even went to AMS, admittedly staying at a nearby hotel, for dinner, looked around, did some shopping (still amazed there was general merchandise shop that was selling garden equipment shovel/spade as check in luggage?) and I even have been to airports for a bit of spotting.
Oh last Sunday at SYD T1 lots of Shoutys. I even said something to the guy in the dining section of the EK lounge who had the phone on speaker with him sitting there holding it about 3 cm from his face. I was a bit rude by saying. "Sorry but I do not really want to eat my dinner hearing your phone conversation." He just glared and continued. I left to catch my flight.

In the VA SYD lounge at the moment - it was pretty busy when I arrived about 90 minutes ago, but finally managed to find myself a quiet (so I thought) corner to tuck into and be alone (as much as you can in here!) with my thoughts. I didn't realise I was just on the other side of the shelving where the daily papers are stacked, and it seems to be a favourite place for Mr Shouties to lean on and start talking on their phones at the top of their voice.

I'm absolutely exhausted, after the trauma of Mum's sudden death last Monday (preceded by my urgent dash from Perth to try to get there in time), then a week of dealing with various arrangements, notifying everyone, sorting through a tonne of Mum's stuff, helping Dad and my brother get through it all, little sleep and dealing with my own emotions etc - then today the long drive back up to Sydney to catch the flight home - the LAST thing I need is a moronic Mr Shouty blathering on (and on and on) barely 18 inches from my head.

I managed to get of two of them pretty quickly - the way I feel physically and mentally and the mood I'm in, I must have had my "cough-face" on, and one look was all it took each time for them to suddenly scuttle away. Will have to try to replicate that look in the future!

There's a nice hidden away area to the left of Premium Entry when you enter into the lounge. I like to hide out there when I feel like some peace and quiet.

I'll have to remember that for next time. I came in the main entrance as I'd had to check in bags - the place is filling up rapidly again, so I'd better hang on to this spot!

You don't need to be on a phone in the lounge to shout.

Why do some people struggle to grasp the concept of whispering in public places instead of shouting to the person next to them.

I have found that there's far more displays of this sort in the J lounges than the regular QP: or perhaps because they are small spaces the douchebaggery is merely more concentrated?

Currently being annoyed by Ms Shouty in the BNE J lounge who has cut over 30 laps of the lounge talking on the phone about how concerned she is about her "client" and her considered legal opinion on the matter. Seriously - WGAS?

I have never seen it, but with individuals like this, have you ever seen anyone go up to them (while the annoying individual is in the middle of a conversation either with a person who is also present or on the telephone) and quietly 'challenge them' and ask them to keep their voice down, and also for that matter (if there's one available) to take a seat?

Or have you ever observed QF or VA (or international airline) lounge staff delivering an 'ultimatum' or a request to said annoying passenger?

I generally get the impression people who behave like this want everyone else to believe that said individual is super important (and by extension far more important than me, which is probably true in many cases.)

I actually don't think people think they're Super important in these cases - just completely (either wilfully or accidentally ) oblivious to the disruption they are causing. Goes hand in hand with general rude and inconsiderate behaviour.

Having said that, surely airlines can come to the party and create private spaces aka
phone booths for people to take calls in.

In a not very big lounge with someone walking up and down repeatably about 2 meters away from you talking a lot more loudly than a normal conversation, is really disruptive to whatever you are doing. I have moved myself to get away from the walking runway.

Well, those with technical knowledge will know that a mobile phone MUST be constantly moved with loud voice volume when in use to agitate the squirrels within for operating-power generation purposes.
Why else would they call it a "mobile"? LOTFAP's "cell" phone does not need this movement as it is aptly named.
