Hello,
I'm Lauren! Happy to be here and am so impressed by this community.

I am flying from Brisbane to Europe to attend a wedding in Barcelona on 12 July. I have around 200000 Qantas Points.

I have found a few Qantas FF rewards flights from Brisbane > London. (3,4,8 July). As far as I can see there are no rewards flights home from any European destination which is fine.

The rewards flight (55000) shows up when I book Brisbane > London return however when I book a Multi City with the intention of returning Paris > Brisbane the Rewards flights are not an option. I have tried a few work arounds from this forum however none work. I am logged in :).

Any ideas would be majorly appreciated. Thank you!

@Quickstatus Will do! Thank you.
Any ideas why I can book a rewards flight with the book flights tool but it won't show up when I do the multi booking option? Same flight, code, etc etc.

Any ideas
The multicity has a clickbutton which restricts bookings to "classic rewards only" whereas the book flights tool does not - just "use points" which means classic rewards and also points plus pay.
Make sure when you modify the date calendar in the multicity tools you click the box in the calendar which says "flexible with dates for all flights"

Ahhh I see haha! I have read a few threads and I am starting to notice a trend.
From what I can deduct it should be fine as the return was a Paris > Dubai > Brisbane all through Qantas/Emirates. It just seems to not show me any rewards options when using the multi tool. Sigh!

Thanks for all your replies.

The multi-city tool is notoriously flaky. If you can see the awards you want as two one-ways -- Brisbane - London and Paris - Brisbane -- then you could book them separately.
Or potentially attempt calling QF and getting them booked that way.

tbh surprised you can see seats during such a peak period just a few months out - that's actually quite good (I understand you're talking Economy but still).

happy travels!

July is school holidays both in EU and here so that is one reason why it is difficult not to mention less than 3 months out = most people snap out reward seats for peak periods 10-11 months out. Good luck.

Thank you :) I will do that.
and yes - such a surprise for a last minute booking. There's a few available so if anyone needs them get on it!

Even if you cant get a return back to BNE, try to another Australian port and then get a domestic classic reward or a international port where Jetstar operates to- because JQ sells one way fares which are half of a normal return fare

Try doing Paris > HK > Brisbane, you may get some Cathay options as opposed to Paris > Brisbane.

I'm also going to Europe later this year and I'm looking to find reward seats in business (to replace my current Premium Economy seats on BA) from London to Singapore, not many options unless I intentionally put Dubai as a stopover (ie. London to Dubai, then Dubai to Singapore), but flying EK I'd have to not only pay more for poknts, but the taxes are unbelievable compared to flying via anywhere else.

Ahh yes! That’s so true.
I’ve found the rewards flight from Bris > London on the 8th July for 55000 points but it’s just that it won’t show up when I use the multi city tool. Return from London it’s bookable but won’t show up if we fly Paris > Brisbane (with Qantas via Dubai).

No rewards flights available for way home. We will pay full fare.

Do you by chance have other FF points stashed away such as in an Amex card or velocity points that can be used for SQ?

Option
CDG-BLR via LHR (good availability) in July then BLR-SYD (less availability FF but there are some in July, or use $$
If you can get to BLR on points the difference in $$$ for a one way from BLR to SYD compared to a one way from LHR is about $2000. Then get a rewards from SYd-BNE
Of course there are more stops.

BLR = Bangalore india

Ah, so you were trying to combine a classic rewards flight one-way with a cash fare on the return?
Yes, that is correct. Is that not possible on the multi city tool?

What I can see available is Bris > London via LA (55000 points) returning to London via Dubai (cash fare).
What I want to do is book that Bris > London via LA with Multi City tool but return to Brisbane from Paris. The flight is available but I don't get the option of any rewards flights. It's the same flights, times, durations, codes etc.

Lets get the terminology correct
When you say there is no "rewards flight". Do you actually mean you can't find a rewards seat on a flight that is available to purchase with $$?

Or do you mean there is a reward seat available but you just can't book it?

Apologies I need to keep the newbie cheat sheet open.
There is a rewards seat available when using the Qantas website, default 'Book Flights', 'Return' function.
When using Multi-City with same date there is no option for a rewards seat.

There is a rewards seat available
Excellent! So if a rewards seat is available for CDG----BNE via the book flights tool, just book it via the book flights tool👍
Classic rewards seats can be booked one sector at a time. There is no benefit putting both the outbound and return on the one booking. So the outbound can be on one booking and the return can be on a separate booking
