Multi City Rewards assistance please

Yes, that is correct. Is that not possible on the multi city tool?
No. You need to choose either "Money, points or both" which means a cash fare but you can pay part or all with points (a LOT of points!) or "Use points - Classic Flight Rewards" which is your 55,000 points BNE-LAX-LHR flight. You can't combine the Classic Flights Reward one-way with a cash fare in a return ticket.

Thank you. And am I correct in thinking that the reason it won't show up (even when I follow the above instructions) is because other legs (returning to Brisbane) do not have rewards seats available?
It sounds like I am best to book cash fares return and use points for another trip

Then just book it via the book flights tool👍
Classic rewards seats can be booked one sector at a time. There is no benefit putting both the outbound and return on the one booking. So the outbound can be on one booking and the return can be on a separate booking
Thank you. I appreciate the insights and responses.
I have looked at booking the BNE>LHR 55000 points rewards seat as one transaction and then booking a return flight on a separate booking however the flight price home ends up being double what it would be as a 'return' booking. Strange! If only that reward seat would show up on the multi city booking I'd be sorted!
Again, thank you. I look forward to learning the terminology and language further. This is fun!

A one way Cashfare is always very expensive - unless using a low cost carrier like Jetstar which sells one way fares at half the return fare.

So confirming, do you see a rewards seat for CDG----BNE on the date you want?

No - As far as I can see there are no rewards seats back to Aus from Europe end of July. I am happy to pay cash fare was just hoping to multi leg and select the departing flight as shown below.

Thats actually a pretty good cash fare for the return.
Long layover or if your glass is half full , a little stopover in LAX and DXB

Just looking for LHR will be restricting you options. And will steer you to QF flights/routes.--> rewards may be all gone.
Look for MAD or even BCN. QF ff partner EK Emirates fly to those. As does QR Qatar, but QF rewards hard to get on QR. And RJ BA.
Looking [QF multi] for 20 July BCN-DXB-BNE/SYD could find economy award on RJ BCN-AMM-DXB but nothing DXB to BNE/SYD
QF does not fly to DXB Dubai. DXB will be on a partner airline.
No need to book as return. Or to/from the same city pairs.

Edit
From BCN with OW filter. But that will exclude non alliance airlines that are ff partners
