Did a quick search but was unable to find.

I was (somehow) able to snare 2 seats from Syd to Doha in Business on Qatar last night for mid October this year.

My ultimate destination is Italy (ideally Rome) - and I have booked 2 seats in Economy (all that was available) from Doha to Rome - business was not available, despite lots of availability on EF.

I have had a look at Doha - Milan and there is availability in Business for my dates. I'd like to book this, as a backup...is there any risk / issue with me having this leg booked as well as the Rome leg, for the same dates/times and people?

Thanks all

Worth case scenario, you get a call from qantas at some points, to ask about the flights happening at the same time. Happened to me a couple of time.

This has taken another twist...

Currently have Syd-Doha (Business) and Doha - Rome (Economy) booked as one ticket.

I have tried to change the Doha - Rome (Economy) leg to Doha - Milan (Business) however two separate Qantas agents have told me this is not possible.

The reasoning is that the Doha-Rome economy leg is connected to the Sydney-Doha leg as part of a 'married flight' behind the scenes on Qatar system and they can't de-link.
Had a very helpful Qantas agent who even called Qatar to try and find a solution, but no luck, they have said that it is not possible without cancelling the whole booking and re-booking, but I don't want to lose Syd-Doha given the scarcity of those seats in Business...

Any suggestions/solutions?

This is known issue with Qatar - most segments through to europe from aus are married segments. You would have to hold your breath and cancel the SYD-DOH and rebook hoping it will be released back into award inventory, however this is not recommended.

I would say wait until you can see a full available business reward from SYD to europe then book that and cancel this one.

Thanks all, have landed in the same place around not touching it...touch much risk to lose SYD-DOH leg in Business!
