Has anyone ever had a J point to point fare require a stop over?

I have a CX J (D) ticket. I called them today to change my return leg and I got told I must make a greater than 24hour stop in HKG on the return. The system will not allow a through connection.

This has really stuffed me due to the lousy (non protected) connections at the end point of this ticket. I now have the prospect of having to leave at 23:55 Friday night just to connect to my 10:00 on Monday!

I will be one tired monkey!

Do you have access to the fare rules - I suppose somebody over the weekend with access to EF might be able to help you.

Well, you are flying J & F, you'd better get your sleep!

I have access to EF. The fare isn't listed. I think it is an unpublished internal fare.

I have 2 sectors in Y. Feel for me!!!

They do exist. Could be there to improve tourism numbers in HKG, could be there to stop people using the tickets for certain purposes (a stopover for example might dissuade some customers from booking that fare and instead book a higher priced ticket). Or the issue could be restrictions on the flight numbers the fare is valid for, and this forces the stopover (should be explained differently though).

I've seen it on discount Y tickets. Never before on a Business class fare.

Well you won't know for sure unless you get a copy of the Fare Rules. Cathay site is doing their upgrade this weekend, but perhaps Cathay Reservations can forward you a copy to peruse?

Trouble is, the wait time on the phone is about 60 minutes. :(

Calling CX. Not AA. Same time zone as PER

Yes, know the feeling - my son was sitting on my chest playing a game on my iPhone at 5.45am - he'll have a long sleep after swimming today ;)
