My airline infidelity......

There is no comparison between SQ's 330 v 380. The J Class product in SQ is not a patch on what they offer ex SYD for the same money. The plane and its cabin are everything..... the 330 is cramped and dated and it matters not how old it is. As for the service, three times now I've had to accept my 3rd choice for the meal. Now this of course sounds trite for those stuck down the back, but for what SQ charges, its pathetic. Interestingly something like that has never occurred on the Flying Roo.....
Airlines charge you for transport between A and B (especially in economy), hence why SYD folk probably get charged similar amounts to why BNE folk do.

The A330 is not old, we have been through this before. If you were talking about the 777 I would agree.

If you are talking about it being squashed in Y, the same applies for most carriers.

In J - SQ's site clearly defines the different types of J products they have (unlike the Roo) - Singapore Airlines Business

Well lets put it this way......

The SQ J product ex BNE is not class leading.
My several SQ J experiences ex BNE have been underwhelming.
For now at least I'm sticking with the Roo.

And you are more than welcome to do so. The 330's and most of the 747's QF use ex-BNE are much older than the 330's SQ use;)

And only operate once a day, versus up to 4 with SQ.

I do not agree with you on this. SQ is certainly better in all its classes as far as service goes.

SQ does not have a full fledged local partner and therfore its not preferred by a good number AFFs as much as QFi.
You are quite entitled to disagree with me. In my experience SQ is not as good as what people say and I have flown SQ both in economy and business. Flying them again in business next month. I will fly them when I see value. e.g Amex MR points for award redemptions to Asia for ~42,500 MR points return.

By the way I am not that difficult to please as long as recliners stay away from me.

Got an op up tonight BNE/MEL - maybe they heard rumblings ;P

It's an old 737 though, so not sure if it really counts or not.

I think the most difficult part of my infidelity that I'm struggling with is that QF really haven't done anything wrong. I mean you see all the posts about "my flight was horrible because of XYZ or that they stuffed up this or that" it's just that while QF are good, I've just had a taste of something even better.

I think in summary after all the good posts above, I'm going to fly CX around a lot more. Question though for those in the know; flying to the east coast USA(boston) what are CX and JAL options like?

Maybe they just like the work you did in Brisbane? (Did spot you busy working away but didn't want to disturb) ...

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

Mate you should have said g'day! Any reason to get down from the scissor lift for a gas bag!

Had an awesome time in brizzie, the weather is fantastic this time of year.

Probably not the brightest idea. It's quite a bit further away, and you'll need to make 2 stops instead of 1. (Although LAX is probably bad enough to count as 2 stops by itself). Although JAL is taking the 788 NRT-BOS, if that makes a difference.

Having flown CX JFK-HKG recently in the new J on a 777, I can recommend this route although as Awesom Andy says, it makes it a 2 stop trip. I also managed to snag the new J on an A330 from HKG to MEL, which I believe is par for the course to SYD now (along with Y+).

If you're doing it in whY, i'd still be favouring BOS-LAX-MEL/SYD as the 13 hour flight is much more reasonable than the 16 on CX JFK-HKG.

Longer flight time but you avoid lax. More flights/day CX to HKG but not all connect well to a LOTFAP flight. Most would take it to avoid LAX / earn extra SCs.

JAL no longer fly to BNE so that's moot unless you want to transit SYD (which adds even more to the travel time). Last time I looked, connections are variable (some with good connection, others like 22hrs, depending on destinations).

I'd certainly go via HKG/NRT but only if a) the price was better and b) the connections were decent.

YMMV
