Had the same problem on Saturday night with an 'On Hold' AAdvantage award booking. Website rejected 3 credit cards. Phoned American Airlines to pay, but I was using miles from my daughter's account before they expire, and AA insisted that the credit card must be in the name of the AAdvantage account holder. No flexibility. On the phone for 110 minutes before I finally gave up and let the booking drop off. We've booked flights from my daughter's miles at least 4 or 5 times in the past, and she has never owned a credit card (only just turned 18) so obviously have always paid the fees and taxes using my card in the past. Very frustrating, lost our bookings (part of a sequence with other flights already locked in using miles from other airlines) and it's now also very likely that my daughter's 25,000 miles will expire unless I purchase miles. However, how can I ever book flights using her miles when there is no credit card in her name?
I would wander off down to the nearest Commonwealth Bank and sign her up for a CBA travel MasterCard. No credit check, no age limit. Load it up and pay the bill.
