Thanks Jeff, Do you mind me asking how you got the Woolworths card fee free? Did you ring up and say you were going to cancel? Is that just for this year - do you have to call them every year or is that forever now?
Thanks very much

Hi Guys,

I am quite new to QFF. Was wondering if you can give me some pointers on my portfolio of QFF to maximise points. I have spent quite a bit of time researching this.
I always pay my credit cards off monthly

Wish List
1. NAB Platinum Amex (will not use visa as poor return on 0.5QFF/$) - I work at nab so no fees. 1.5QFF/$
2. David Jones Amex - 2.25QFF/$ for supermarkets and petrol
3. Citibank Signature/woolies - 1QFF/$ - but woolies has better value for annual fee @ $89/yr and also bonus points which citibank does not.

Currently opened.
1. NAB Platinum Amex/Visa
2. Amex platinum Qantas - will get bonus of 50k, waive annual then close
3. Citibank Signature Qantas (conditionally approved) will get bonus of 80k, waive annual then close or try to switch over the free fee for life.

I currently am single very young and probably will only churn about 3500-4000QFF/m.

Any ideas?

hey are you referring to amex patinum reserve card? also how did you manage to get your annual fee waived

I just rang up to say I wanted to cancel the card and they said if they credit me the annual fee back would i like to keep it. Thought I might as well.

TBH so far only Jetstar seem to have had no interest in keeping me as a customer, thought I just recently got rid of my 28Degrees mastercard as I now use teh Citibank account instead for OS ATM withdrawals.

It think most of the banks will offer you some sort of discount if you say you want to cancel the card.

Sort of. Velocity points can be redeemed for award flights with Singapore Airlines, but the points cost for an award flight is different - ie it would cost you more (a lot more) VA points for an SQ award flight than it would cost if you were using KrisFlyer miles. Also, the availability is likely to be different, especially in premium cabins - ie there might be an award seat available for KrisFlyer miles on a certain flight, but no availability using Velocity points.

Also, you mentioned Asiana earlier - KrisFlyer miles can be used for award seats with Asiana (or any other airline that is a Star Alliance member), but Velocity points can't be used with Asiana (or most other Star Alliance members - exception being Air NZ). On the other hand, Velocity points are useful domestically and they can also be used with Etihad - good if you want to go to Europe. So it all depends what you're looking for.
There have been some recent changes to how points and status credits are earned and burned on Singapore.

Virgin Australia Velocity points status credits earn on Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Personally, I do lots of domestic travel and and occasional international to Europe. So I earn with Virgin Australia and burn with Etihad - who always have good availability and also much better burn rates than Singapore.
