In November 2024 booked a one way fare Brisbane to Perth to depart at 9.10am for Thursday 6 March 2025 with a one way fare Perth to Broome on 9 March 2025 to join a Coral Expeditions Cruise leaving Broome 11 March 2025.

Am Platinum with Virgin and the bookings were Choice fares in Economy X. Also booked a redemption J fare for daughter in law and grand daughter (six months old) who wanted to see family in Perth. Wife and I were in row 3 in Economy X behind daughter in law and baby in row 2.

As from last Tuesday last week remained positive with the talk Wednesday that Brisbane Airport would close Thursday afternoon. Thursday morning 6 March 2025 received a text from Virgin at 5.35am advising flight to Perth cancelled. At 5.40am another text from Virgin advising we were rebooked to Perth via Adelaide with flight leaving an hour earlier.

That required getting ready quickly so we could be at the airport at 7.00am to meet daugher in law. Whilst in line at check in I saw that I had been given row 4 in Economy X, Wife given row 27 and daughter in law and baby row 23. Explained situation about bookings to check in agent who was very helpful and called someone in the lounge who said they would see what they could do and to see them when we got to the lounge.

Outcome was that daughter in law and baby were business Brisbane to Adelaide and wife and I were together in the exit row Brisbane to Adelaide. For the Adelaide to Perth flight we were told it was a full flight but they were able to seat us all together in row 16. In the circumastances very happy with the outcome and the way the agent in the lounge handled it.

Points and status credits from the flights for wife and I for Thursday yet to credit to my account. For the flight Perth to Broome today points and status credits were .credited to my account about an hour after landing in Broome. I will leave it for14 days from last Thursday before contacting Virgin to see if there are any problems for points and status credits being credited to my account for the resceduled flight. Have no idea if my status credits will be given on the original booking which is 30 status credits or 40 status credits for Brisbane to Adelaide (20) and Adelaide to Perth (20).
