Thank you irv for a wonderful trip report. I have enjoyed it from beginning to end. You have given me some wonderful ideas for our next trip where we planned on going to Halifax. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Looked like a great trip.

Enjoy, it is a great part of the world, but you must include Cape Breton, or your trip will be diminished.

As an aside I just did the adds walked 498 klms during our trip, was 6 kg lighter when we came home. So in retrospect holidays are good for your health in more ways than one

My weight never changes (a 6 kg change, I cannot even contemplate!) but I think most people are more likely to add weight when travelling, so you've done exceptionally well. The message in that, of course, is: keep travelling for your health ;):). Start more planning NOW :). I can recommend a stroll around Patagonia :p.

Me too! (And I'm of the, er, constitution where losing some kilos is very much worthwhile.) I've made the point several times to my GP and asked if there was any way he could swing a Medibank rebate for these healthy holidays.

So far without success. Private health insuerer also resisting the idea, strangely.:(

ps great TR. Looking forward to the next one.

This is my first attempt at a trip report so if I err, feel free to correct me. So you are aware, we are self funded flyers, we have no lounge access, we have no status, and we generally get no upgrades. We do not seek high end accommodation but wish to be comfortable and spend as little time in our rooms as possible, if you can appreciate this either read on or alternatively move on.

In 2011 we went on our first overseas trip to Canada , there were a few places we wanted to revisit, so we coupled this with a trip to the USA in August 2015. Our trip to the USA included San Francisco, Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Nevadah, Utah , Arizona and Annaheim in California. The Canada leg was concentrated on the east side in Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island.

As a new poster in this part of the forum I will try to make future posts not long winded, but as interesting as possible, I hope you appreciate these from a not to frequent, but want to be, international flyer.

I hope you enjoy our adventure as much as we did.

And what a great holiday ! Loved reading your trip report and great photos too, so now that wasn't too hard was it IRV ?

Looking forward to your next trip report :D

What a TR! You've certainly catapulted yourself into the upper echelon of our esteemed Trip Reporters irv. I hope we get to see the next one.

Loved your trip report.
Photos were spectacular and brought back lots of lovely memories.

Great effort thanks for sharing.

Thoroughly enjoyed your report - even registered so I could tell you so..........we have been to USA & Canada extensively (twice) and saw a lot of my photos on your pages.

You are very lucky to be able to walk so far in the heat, New York exhausted me but what a wonderful city to see by shanks', look forward to your next epic.

Europe followed by a canal cruise through France from Paris to Monte Carlo, then onto Nice is to be considered. Thanks for the memories

Thanks for your kind words, I am in the process of planning the next, it is a bit of the way off but Europe is on the agenda via Asia, a lot of research to do in the lead up. And yes the last journey was a lot of fun.

Asia is wonderful, enjoyed Vietnam, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei and others in 2015. Vietnam, Myanmar and Brunei were a first time destination for us - don't miss 'em!!!!

Remiss of me to say welcome aboard Jan, as a former Coastie I have fond memories of my time living at Point Clair, not that far from Gosford.

TY Tom, yes Point Clare is 5 mins drive away. I have been reading posts for a long time, but never felt the need to answer any, till I read yours - like others I guess it just bought back happy memories of some of our travels. Kind Regards Jan
PS Port is not too bad either lol

Jan

The word lucky walking so far in the heat was not expressed by my dear wife, however what better way to see an icon city.

Irv, just caught up with this thread. Looks to have been a great trip & well recorded & reported.

We were especially pleased with your trip to Halifax, Cape Breton and PEI as this is where we are going this August - 15 nights for the three areas. Some very useful info and great photos. The only problem we saw is the size of the lobsters. My wife likes them and I hate them. She is convinced that she would never be able to eat all of one. Thanks again for the report.

Once she gets going, she won't have a problem and who knows you may become a convert. Perfect time of year to go, if you like the outdoors you will have a great time, enjoy.
