My partner's Kris Flyer Elite runs out in a couple of months. Are there any status-matching programs at the moment he could utilise? Also - Will Virgins Status Match on a case-by-case basis. He plans to do quite a few Virgin flights in the next 12 months and is currently only a Silver Velocity member.

Which airline/alliance do you want to get your status matched into?

Virgin doesn't usually offer status matches outside of specific promos, unless you join up to Virgin Australia Business Flyer and meet the minimum spend (in which case you get a couple of Pilot Gold memberships).

You might be able to request a Qantas Tier Accelerator challenge if that's of interest. If your partner has KrisFlyer Elite Gold (you haven't specified if it's Gold or Silver with KrisFlyer) then they might be able to get a Qantas Gold challenge.

Could also get the HSBC star alliance credit card, if you haven’t already. $450 fee waived for the first year, spend $4000 in the first three months and star alliance gold is yours for a year. If joining aeroplan from air canadia, you get virgin lounge access.

You could get the paid EY status match?

EY Gold = Velocity Gold but you'd need 1 EY sector in the next three months to make it last at least a year.

Or with the HSBC card - you can choose where to assign the status to a FF of your choice - either Singapore, Aeroplan or United would get you elite benefits on VA (reduced benefits with Aeroplan).

Are the T&Cs mentioning anything about extending an already existing status if you were to choose Krisflyer for the Gold status?
