hello,
I have approx 418,000 Qantas ff points which will expire end of June as I have not had any transactions since june 2008. As i do not intend to fly between now and when points expire (June 2011) I am keen to maintain my account as active. So my questions are
if i were to tfr points (100,000) to a member of a family who has a FF membership, will that transaction be considered an activity to keep my acount valid?
can I buy points to keep my account valid?
should i simply buy a ticket using some of my accumulated points fly before end of June?
can I buy at ticket using FF points now but not actually travel until end of August?
I have read the terms and conditions of membership but I am not sure of the best course of action at this point. What do others think..:(

No, this no longer counts as activity.

There are options such as Woolworths EDR card that can generate activity on your account. Just one point will do it.

Yes, you can do this.

At the end of the day you just need to get some sort of activity, that is not a family transfer, on your account.

Thanks for the prompt reply Oz_Mark

I think i will buy a ticket now and travel in june?:)

I would get myself down to Woolworths and grab an Everyday Rewards Card (they are free), link it to my FF account through their website and then spend over $30- in one transaction at Woolworths or an affiliated store (flashing the card, of course).

This will add points to your account, which is classed as activity.

The suggestion regarding the woolworths everyday card is brilliant..
Woolies is just down the road from my house and I am keen to have an activity on the account sooner than later. This will fix my situation real quick.

thanks and cheers...

And if you just show your woolworths edr card anytime you shop there, your qf points will never expire....unless they change the rules...

While the EDR card is the best way to avoid points expiry, the other cheap and easy way is to redeem 3750 points for a Woolies gift card.

Cheap when you have 418,000 points sure, but not as cheap as spending $31 after registering an EDR card, and perhaps adding more points as you do your weekly shop in the future ;) forever extending the life of the points.
