My Velocity points balance has fallen to zero... and I couldn't be happier

I pulled mine out of QBR. Just enough for what we wanted to book.
Do you have PC? 20k points from QBR count towards PC and potentially earning SCs on those redemptions.

I can see clear value in collecting Velocity points, so I've already started the work to top up my balance again, so that I'll be ready when I want to redeem the next reward!
Now (or the next 3 months) is the time?

Congratulations @Mattg. I think it also shows that you either travel a lot or you plan your travel around award availability.

Travelling with a 7 year old to the most popular place with the worst possible award availability means close to 1 million Qantas points and ever growing Velocity points balance that is now nearing 300,000 Velocity points.

Couldn't agree more with this thread.

I'm down to 838 points (been pooling to my partner in the last 6 months).

Together as a result of credit card acquisition and earn rates, we've managed to book (and partially travel) the following for the last month and coming 6 months:
- 2Y ADL-MEL on VA (avoiding massive last minute airfares)
- 2J MEL-LHR on Etihad (pre-Xmas)
- 2J MAN-SIN on Singapore (in mid Jan)
- 2J SIN-BNE on Singapore (to get us back to Australia)
- 2Y BNE-MEL on VA to get us home (at the cheaper points promo on sale now)
- 1Y LST-MEL (avoiding high fare at the time we have to travel)
- 2J MEL-SIN
- 2W SIN-NRT.
