For the time being, I'll keep the replacement NAB card, for emergency's, And bring cash with me when going OS, and no fee;s. besides I like dealing with money changers keeps them in a job, helps keep cash and our freedom alive for alittle bit longer
No, there was no personalised info in any of the mail I have received, just card and general info. I had the same problem and called internet banking support, the staff reset my account and I re-registered while they wait on the phone.I can't seem to register for my new account, it asks for a code/password - but I've not received anything, I assume it comes via mail? I have the registration code, but not the 2nd part.
I assume it's for one of 2 reasons:
- Due to being located overseas - the mail hasn't arrived yet (as they already said the cards will take some time)
- They're sending it to an old address on file, as others have reported
Time/effort/cost - too hard basket for now, I'll deal with it in a month or so then....No, there was no personalised info in any of the mail I have received, just card and general info. Yep same here. Credit to them, at least they are proactive on the renewalsMy Citi card expires end of March. Got a message telling me the replacement card is on the way.
How useful....
Same here but I don't think my card is expiring and they would have migrated my accounts to NAB by then?Got a message telling me the replacement card is on the way.
That's BS. Can't you open like ubank / Suncorp and move the money over there?I was promised an e-mail with the information, so that's arrived at least:
I'll get stuck in the same loop - they'll tell me I need to send in certified ID or go to a branch, neither which is simple to do. Just in case it's not known/clear, I'm UK based. My ING account is now closed due to no usage (they auto did that) and this is my only AU account left now, so I do need it/one.That's BS. Wow, so they do no ID verification? How do they meet their legal requirements under KYC?Why?
A friend's relative moved here from overseas last year, so I told them to open either Suncorp or Bankwest transaction account (as no fee no forex fee and they have branches). They picked Bankwest, so we went bang bang bang on the Bankwest web site, BSB and account number generated after 10 mins. Didn't need to submit anything, not even photocooy or scan anything.
Suncorp also do account opening fully electronic, no need to go into the branch
Are you just over thinking it?

Except ......... as I said, I live in UK, so I would be lieing if I put WA as my state for example and I don't have an AU drivers licence anymore, I had to give that up in my first year in the UK.All these banks just ask you to type in your passport number (including my friend's relative who entered a foreign passport), they then send it to Immigration department, then get a OK message back, they then ask you to enter licence number and your state, your state government send a message back either correct or incorrect. If you pass both, you pass and it's done.
No one been opening bank account in branches for years, since electronic verification started like 10 years ago?! Well, except old people
My friend's relative arrived fresh off the plane, we went home from airport, then got on the computer, bang bang bang all done. They obviously didn't have Medicare, didn't have Australian drivers licence, because they are a foreigner with no prior connection to Australia. They used their passport plus one other ID, I cannot remember if they used their phone SMS verification or a credit card.Except ......... as I said, I live in UK, so I would be lieing if I put WA as my state for example and I don't have an AU drivers licence anymore, I had to give that up in my first year in the UK.
Indeed, fortunately I have trustworthy parents so they're looking after it for me while I sort out something. My friend's relative arrived fresh off the plane, we went home from airport, then got on the computer, bang bang bang all done. With the address thing, I guess you could either borrow an address from a relative (I think it's easier if this is possible) and have your new ATM card sent there, or just be honest and trying entering your current UK address during application process and see what would happen.
What have you got to lose by trying? If you don't pass the ID check on the bank's web site, it just won't let you proceed any further. You have nothing to lose; but I think not trying to get your money out right now is going to leave you in a situation which would be even more difficult to resolve after end of this month.
This is quite normal for many banks, both here and overseas. Of course there are exceptions, and anyone who has bank accounts in other countries face these situations often.OK, for anyone who is based internationally I have some bad news for you. You will not receive any form of activation code or password/telephone password, you have to call in and then they will confirm that your ID cannot be confirmed over the phone (even if you provide DOB, address, account balance etc.).
The only solution is to go to the embassy, have them verify your ID, then you have to post it to NAB. Until then you'll have no access to your account, money etc.
