Looks like this offer will disappear as obviously it is too generous and too many people have amassed too many points ????
Or they may now just add some suitable T&C....either defining what an everday transaction is, or other possible restrictions such as minimum spend etc, etc
The main mistake NAB have made here is not having T&C to only award 100 points for a "full" purchase, and to prevent "bill-splitting" exacerbated by it's own staff removing for at least one person (and good luck to that inventive soul!!!) the normal flags that would be set off with such repeated 1 cent transactions!
You might remember the Amex Everday Promo, where they mid-promo released some additional clarifying T&C on what constituted an 'everday" transaction and what was a "reasonable" transaction.
Interestingly enough the NAB letter. from what has been posted, used the same word "everday' to refer to spend. But then there was reportedly no further T&C to define, nor reference to other T&C, as to what everday spend was. ie in the Amex Everday promo while T&C in the promo was ridiculously too generous and loose (not that I am complaining
) It did however directly refer to general T&C provisions of the Amex Mileage Reward program, and that allowed an out for Amex to choose to not pay all bonus transactions.
ie at the time there was reportedly one enterprising person that paid a $1000 phone bill in $1 increments. That gave Amex an out due to MR T&C to not award the 1,000,000 bonus points earnt.
Being aware of the MR T&C meant that I was quite diligent in that promo to follow the MR T&Cs rather than than just the initial T&C listed on the Everday promo (which in essence was nil: it actually said no minimum spend, nor limit !!!!). My strategy turned out to be prudent suspended me from the promo, claimed that some of my transactions were suspicious and requested that I justify my spend. This I did in a large submission back to them, and further went on to validate how I had met all T&C of the MR Program as well as the Everday Promo, with a demand then that unless they could actually list any example of inappropriate, or unreasonable spend, that they re-instate me to the promotion and award all points. Their decision actually took a wile, an so for the last month of the promo I kept going despite being suspended with the expectation that they would re-instate me. To their credit they did.
At the time of that promo I drempt up many, many ways to gain transactions. Most I did not enact, as I deemed it would get me suspended. The ones I deemed safe I did work very hard though.
