The same day my new QFF card and tags arrived I got a classy looking mailing from QF offering a free hunt leather overnight bag worth $550, 20 k bonus QFF points, and NAB platinum card with 1.5 points per dollar spend on the Amex and 2 points per $3 on the Visa. + 1 bonus QFF point for very dollar spent on eligible QF products

While I usually bin all such offers that bag does look very nice and combined with 20k points and travel insurance it might just justify the $290 per annum fee.

Did anyone else get this, and beyond the lure of the bag how does it stack up in the card stakes?

I did not receive that offer - but I did see the card offered somwhere so I applied - received cards in mail - made initial spend to get the bonus points - now am just waiting for the bonus points to arrive.

I have added a neice as a supp card holder as she has significant annual $ spend and no requirement for the points - all points go to primary card holder.

My wife has the offer and I do not. I have put it aside for the moment but do not think we would go ahead.

My approval came thorugh yesterday. Can't really go wrong with the bonus points being spent on QF items (flights etc) seeing I book my own trips it'll work out quite nicely. Bag and 20,000 are a bonus.

I took advantage of the 20,000 points offer BEFORE the current offer was received. The 20,000 points were credited within 10 days. I called them regarding the bag and they are going to send it to me! I think my first months spend may have encouraged them!

I have this card and was thoroughly impressed with the instant approval, and customer service when I went in to prove my ID. They even opened 3 bank accounts for me in less than 5 mins.

The earn ratio is good and uncapped. Call the dedicated 1300 number and you will never have to wait.

However, I never rely on free CC insurance. It pays to take out a "real" policy with greater coverage for international travel.

And you can apply for the Gold card, get the 15,000 points, pay the fee and then close it :)

My brother has a NAB Platinum account and used the travel insurance on a trip to Nepal only last month to trek to Everest Base Camp. He fractured his ankle on the trek back and had to be helicoptered out. Apart from the difficulty in finding the direct number to call in all the information provided, he was able to sort it all out on a satellite phone from a village in the hills. Insurance covered everything and he got home in one piece.

We were all VERY impressed by the service. Needless to say the option to get a card was a no-brainer for me. :D:D

I had the NAB QF Gold cards, and was 'upgraded' to the Platinum for free last week. IMNSHO, the cards themselves look more silver than platinum. :P
When I saw the thick package, I had hoped it was my new QF tags and card, but alas.
I don't think I got any bonus points, seeing as NAB were the ones who decided to 'upgrade' me.

Still considering this offer so thanks for the good feedback.
Also looking at the Platinum charge card offer, with 75,000 points, better travel insurance and free flight. The $900 fee is a lot higher than this NAB offer though.

Most intriguing.

I was actually thinking of upgrading because I hit the points cap every now and then (especially at this time of year), but when I seen your post I logged into my internet banking.

The "Product Name" field now says "QFF VISA PLATINUM ONE".

I guess I'll be getting some new cards shortly as well then :)

Shaun, looking at the info pack sent to me, points stop on both the amex & visa at $10k. I can't remember, but it seems the same as with the Gold?
A change in points earnings was not one of the advertised benefits of the upgrade - but acces to nab's platinum service centre, price protection insurance, nab platinum concierge and nab visa pay wave were all mentioned as additional benefits.

My pack says on page 7 "With no cap on the number of points you can earn, your points earning power is unlimited!"
I got nearly 100,000 points in my first month!
Win!!

Hmm, I've been given the platinum cards, but still with the gold points rules. Perhaps I have to be invited to cough up the extra $150ish in annual fees for platinum to have the unlimited points ....
(Gold annual fees currently $145, and plat $290 according to the nab site)

Reggie and Katie - what does it say under product name in account details in Internet banking? Maybe there are different versions of it.

I'll have a look when/if my cards come and let you know :)

Just had to register for nab internet banking. My product is listed as QFF Visa Platinum One.

This sucks!

I have had the NAB Platinum card for 18 months and spend $20,000 a month and I don't get a free bag!!!

:)

The policy is OK I guess but you need to charge all your overseas travel to the card. The problem is I use FF points to pay for part of the ticket and the card for the rest most of the time. My reading of the policy is that I am not covered by the policy so not much use.

Received mine today.

Seems to be a 'cut down' version of the full Platinum card, so I may end up doing the upgrade anyway.

The cards look different to the normal Platinum as well.

Nothing on the NAB web site about them.

I've noticed all the electronic receipts issued with this new Platinum One actually say NAB Gold mastercard so its still treated by the system as a simple gold card.

Same customer support numbers as gold card as well. Seems it just a platinum coloured card and not much else. Who dreams these things up???
