Just managed to nab A380 in J for HKG-SYD (was previously on QF88)...extremely happy:p:p:p

Have been watching the JASA availability like a hawk and today it magically appeared - change to QF128 for $91HKD:!:

Needless to say I'm in happy-friday mood now, so the only question is which seat will be best to maximise sleep on this overnight flight?

I've chosed 25F...any thoughts?

Nice one :)

Haven't been in J on an A380 myself. I was supposed to be for SYD-LAX-SYD last year, but points upgrades came through for F both ways :)

I presume you mean HKG-SYD though??

Right HKG-SYD - ooh F would be nice, I'll pray for an op-up :)

If there is anything in Emerald City ( rows 11-13 ) that would be the best seats. Quick service, quieter than the main J cabin. If not available to you now then set up a few seat alerts on Expert Flyer :)
Enjoy !

Well done. Just out of interest how big is the gap between when the seat became available and the scheduled departure?

A couple of days ago I managed to snag a JASA on QF127 (SYD-HKG, also A380) for late June, which I was pretty amazed at. Very happy! Even managed to get 11E which I reckon is the best seat you can get. 60,000 points + $350 in taxes etc.

Interestingly, the JASA ended up being less points than the classic award would have been. I think this is because the I booked MEL-SYD-HKG and the classic award charges an extra 16,000 points for the MEL-SYD sector where the JASA doesn't. I couldn't figure this out why I'm certainly not complaining.

Even more exciting for me is that this is for leisure rather than work, and it's a day-time flight, so I can fully enjoy the F lounge and on-board food and wine (mostly wine!). Unlike next week's QF9 where I will have to behave myself.

Combined with my most lucrative act of frequent flyer arbitrage yet - $900 worth of United miles bought and redeemed for Osaka to Melbourne via Singapore on Singapore Airlines business class - I feel like the travel gods are in a good mood right now.

Now to see if I can find a CX Hong Kong to Tokyo flight with their new J product... :p

I completed my first ASA this morning LAX-SYD in F. Absolutely wonderful, points and SCs had posted by the time I got to the SYD domestic lounge.

I can see a few more ASAs in my future.

Nice one:D

Next week I'm also having a new experience with my second ASA booking, first one was February with a tester to AKL. This time it's FASA QF1/2 A380 SYD-SIN-SYD:mrgreen: with double status credits.

Really looking forward to the degustation meal over to SIN.

Hmmmmmm interesting - now seeing the option to change to First for an additional $2380HKD, different day on 747 tho

Not very often would you be able to get yourself into First by paying an extra $300AUD... although I really should reserve my comments for those who have more experiences up that end of the plane. ;)

QF A380 F ASA is on my watch list!! How great you got one!
It's can even be better if you can book one ex MEL/SYD - degustation and all that.

You need to keep you eye out (and an E/F subscription can greatly assist).

I had a JASA MEL-xSYD-LAX booked in July last year for this week - in October E/F notified me of P class on QF93 and I was able to book it. The JASA was cancelled with full refund of points/$$.:D

If you take SYD/LAX/SYD for example a FASA on A380 is always tough to find.

Most FASA turn up on 747 which is a vastly inferior product to the F in A380

IMO I would stick with the A380......maybe try your luck with an upgrade.

Are A380 JASA's really hard to find? I thought they just kept going up in price until inventory ran out, hence the ASA part of the award? Unlike Classic which are limited in release and sell out pretty fast.

I don't think they are either ... BUT, getting them for a reasonable price is the hard bit! (And I've been able to get a "cheap" FASA on an A380, so they do exist)

Maybe the bolding should be in the thread header, LOL.

When booking my ASA (SYD-SIN-SYD) a few weeks ago I couln't find one JASA at the cheap point rate unless I went via, ADL or PER on clapped out dodgey angle seats....found plenty of FASA on the A380 so just booked that instead:mrgreen:
