Yes if I was going to the US (not this time, but I am later and that ticket is CORRECT as per my passport) I would definitely change it. But I'm only going to Bali this time so am going to risk it.

Cheers

I wouldn't bother changing for one letter now would I recommend my clients change however I've never had an airline insist on canceling the ticket over one or two letters, generally they'll charge a "reasonable" ticket reissue fee (eg $60 AUD on SQ) and reissue the existing ticket.

do the IATA name rules still apply (max three letters can be incorrect)?

I struggle to understand that because it was only booked minutes before they can not update the record to the correct spelling.

I'm not travelling until May so won't know until then. Airline was adamant they could not change the name, it would have to be cancelled and reissued hence the quoted fee for doing so. Will update after the trip.

Thought I would post an update to this thread with the outcome. I did not change the error and decided not to point it out to anyone along the way and to wait and see what happened.

the answer is... nothing. NOBODY noticed or if they did they did not care enough to say anything. Not check-in, or immigration at either end, either leaving MEL or returning from DPS.

Wait and see if the ff points show up. One letter out of sequence and usually it's no

Excuse the typos, this was sent from my iPhone using Fat fingers

I wondered about the FF points too but yes they have also turned up. This is for Garuda's frequent flyer program and I can confirm that the FF account is in my name as per my passport and the ticket had my first name spelled differently. I did make sure my FF number was inserted into the booking at check-in at both ends so this may account for why it did go through.
