Navigating Johannesburg airport

Hi everyone. Anyone able to help with this?
I will be making my way to Windhoek ( Namibia) in June and have used my QFF points to get me as far as Johannesburg. ( And thanks to Award Flight Assist I'll get back)
I am supposed to land at 3.40pm. Should I be staying in the airport and finding a flight to Windhoek that day, or would it be best to stay the night in Johannesburg?
I’m unfamiliar with South Africa and its airport customs process and how you move between countries. I don’t want to make more work for myself.

There are a number of hotels at/nearby the terminal serviced by courtesy coaches. Varying prices so research this. Staying a night lets you refresh as well as covering possible delays. Done this and going back in May. Clear skies.

We've done SYD-JNB many many times and its best to overnight at the Intercontinental which is less than 100 metres from the arrivals exit door....QF can be horribly delayed on this service so best be prepared....The airport is small and the domestic terminal is right next door to the international terminal so you'll have no issues navigating the airport....Arrivals can be quick to long and frustrating depending on other international arrivals....Ignore those locals that offer you anything ....they are harmless at the airport so just bypass them and head to the intercontinental where the rooms are great and the restaurant superb.

I have also stayed at Intercontinental and can recommend it. I do not know if they have a generator but worth an email to them to find out. (email address [email protected]) . I stayed in November and had no problems there with load shedding that I noticed at all. They can be pricy so if price is an issue there is also the Protea Hotel which others have recommended and have a shuttle which collects you from the airport. The Intercontinental is literally right outside the front of the terminal with an undercover walkway and yes ignore everyone who offers to assist you, you really just go outside with your trolley and you are there. Make the Windhoek flight the next day.
