Also of interest, MEL-SYD-DFW in F earns 620SC for only AUD17,092, so AUD27.57/SC. Not the cheapest, but gives access to the F lounge in SYD!

you're missing the awesomeness that is the AAdmirals Club in DFW too!!! :D

Great suggestion, but a bit out of my budget for a Status Run, plus not after WP1 this year.

It looks like a one day trip to OOL will be the ideal one. ✈️

Well just to throw a spanner in the works I just received a 1.5 SC offer, but when I try and book it shows the normal amount.

Any more hints please?

That's normal. Just make sure you've registered and that the booking and flights are within the applicable periods, and you'll be right.

If you register for the offer and make an eligible booking during the promotion period, the extra SC will post to your account separately.

Thanks for all of your useful tips, looks like OOL for the convenience of flights which are both with reasonable hours and cost.

Great timing on the SC offer - you lucked out. Makes it much easier :)

I realize this may not be much help to the OP as you've probably already booked, and the sale I'm referring to only kicks in next July. But in case you or anyone else are looking at status runs for next year, QF is currently doing SYD-xMEL-LST in discount Y for $89. That would earn 20 status credits. Do 3 return trips for $534 and you've earned 120 status credits.

Hope you're doing enough flying in the following year to have made it worthwhile. No point attaining status if you don't get to take advantage of it.

Will try and make the most of the following year with a SFO trip booked and a Japan trip planned and a few more in the planning stages.

Thanks everyone,
Status run from MEL to OOL run completed and have received the email saying that I am now a WP.
Just need to plan some trips and wait for my pack to arrive.

Now it's time to book a cheap Y trip to NZ and enjoy the QF F lounges in SYD/MEL! Also you don't need to wait for the card, your status will show on your BP.

Hi all,

To divert attention from the OP for a moment if I may, can I throw this one to the brains trust? I'm SG with 1200sc and a renewal end of Jan so have two weeks to sort out 200 if I want to get WP.

Am currently trying to work out whether it's worth the dollars. The simplest way I can find is MEL-xSYD-CNS-xSYD-MEL in business which is exactly 200 and can be done in a day. A bit over 2k though. Anyway have any suggestions for more cost effective options? I considered the EK F idea one way with a J fare over but it's not better value.

At 2K I'm not sure I can justify it with my planned travel in 16.

cheers

I think the sensible rule of thumb should be that if you don't fly enough to make the level without wasting money on status runs, then you probably wont be flying enough to actually get enough benefit from that status. :)

Well I am certainly at airports enough. 56 flights with QF in 2015 including three international trips so there would certainly be tangible benefits to having it. All trips originating in Melbourne but is it worth it for nicer lounges is the big question especially when a number of my most frequent domestic destinations only have QPs.

You have earnt enough to retain WP - just not earn it the first time. if your travel patterns are going to be similar in your next membership year I understand why you would seriously look at a SR

MEL-SYD-HTI same day return will get you 200SC for $1,720. (I looked at 30 Jan)
