I am looking at doing a YUPP with a friend, and I am trying to work out was SC he will earn.

ORD (41°58'43"N 87°54'17"W)MIA (25°47'36"N 80°17'26"W)156° (SE)1197 mi

As you can see GC shows ORD-MIA as 1197mi. Qantas break into more SC at 1201 mi.

I have been told that GC is not always correct. Can someone tell me from experience what SC I will earn for this flight in F?

The AA timetable says that it is 1200 miles.

That is most likely what will get pumped back to Qantas for SC calculations.

However, to get the most accurate answer, you need someone who has flown that route in recent times and can quote what they see in their FF statement.

Just looked at aa.com. They seem to aggree with GV. (1197mi)

Yes, I am hoping for a definitive answer direct from an activity statement.

The source I was using was the AA downloadable Traveldesk. I used it to check quite a few AA flights I've done, and the downloadable timetable was either accurate to my Qantas statement, or <5 miles less than what was credited by Qantas.

There should be someone here who has done that route in recent times. If you don't mind me asking, what KUPP are you looking at? I might have some optimisation tips available.

Oddly enough I am looking at doing something very similar to serfty. I will be in Hawaii, and I want to go to LA and see Universal Studios, then off to MIA and do Kennedy Space Canter. ORD was thrown in as a transit as it looks far away from both :)

I'm not sure a KUPP/YUPP will work for you for the reasons I've noted in this post in another thread:

KSC is actually quite nice to visit. I recommend the "Up Close" tour (esp if they've moved a shuttle out to the launch pad like they did when I was there!)

Note the the cheaper first class fares out of HNL have been gone for several months. :(

There's some good one ex SFO.

Need a third answer to the pool: "Unsure"

In reality, the poll means little as far as crediting goes; it's what the carrier (reasonably) decrees.

The poll was put there as a bit of fun, as I have never set one up.

I think ORD-MIA is great value for use of QFF awards, but not so good as a K/YUPP sector.

Well I can't give you a definate answer from experience but this is what you get from qantas points calculator,.....

Trips: Points Zone(Miles) ClassAward
icon_non_qantas_operated.gif
Chicago - Miami (stop)18000 3 (1204) EconomyQantas

The above is for redeeming an award as you can't get the exact info your after, but this certainly suggests that you would get 120SC. It would seem a bit unfair if it was zone 3 for redemption and zone 2 for earning.

hope that helps

I have flown this sector but it was a couple of years ago and my QFF online activity statement doesnt go back that far.

Unless it has changed since August it will be 120 SCs!

... unless I can get absolute proof that Qantas credit it > 1200 miles, I would be avoiding it.
