I managed to secure some 2 J tickets using my points to the following destination next May 23
SYD-Tokyo (HND) with JAL
Tokyo - LHR with BA
LHR-MAD with BA
I have just received notification from Qantas just passing on the message that the flight to LHR is now taking another 2 hours longer leaving me with an hour buffer to catch my connecting flight to MAD ( I had 3 hours before).
The question is
- do I ring up to change the last leg and it will be with Iberia as there are no more BA flights for the day
- or do i change from LHR to Barcelona (instead of MAD) as there are later BA flights and I was intending to go to Barcelona later on anyway.
Having read the forum on errors made by Qantas service reps, are they going to change my last leg only or do they change the whole itinerary?

Agree with the Princess. If there are no further changes and you don't make it they're obliged to put you on the next BA/IB flight to MAD. It's too far out to assume any change made now would still be viable next May. If it's all on the one ticket they'll sort it out.

At the moment BA are not flying to HND, and the JAL flight is taking longer because it is flying eastward over Alaska and Greenland to avoid Russian air space. As a result the HND -LHR flight leaves 2 hours earlier so that it’s maintains the same arrival time in LHR. This new route may explain the longer BA flight time.
I don’t see the Russian situation being resolved by May.
Assuming the HND- LHR flights are on the same booking as the LHR-MAD you’re protected, so just sit tight and wait.
