Seeking opinion on this Tumi: the T-Tech adventure 22" described on the Tumi website as:

A best-selling carry-on style among business and frequent travelers. It offers a roomy interior that expands a full 2" for extra space when you need it and has a removable garment sleeve. Made from Tumi's exclusive X-Tech fabric, which is strong, durable and soft to the touch, it features numerous interior organizer pockets. Top, side and bottom handles make getting in and out of the overhead easier.

Would like to know if any issues in carrying-on (and if there were, at what airline/airport), durability and storage, weight of this piece and any other comments or experiences.

Thank you

I will choose the grey colour (not the red in the image below)

I have the 20in "standard" Tumi and that just fits neatly in the standard airline measuring cage. I would think that this runs the risk of not fitting if you are forced to be measured. Also I can easily get about 12KG of gear in the 20in so this extra 2in is probably going to put you way over the 7kg limit.

Just a few thoughts.

Is the extra 2in in the name only related to the 2in expansion available, rather than to the standard dimensions? You would assume Tumi would only advertise it as a "carryon" if it fit in the normal guages.

You can buy the version I have in 20 and 22 in. My 20in is expandable.

Okay. I will need to remember to check the actual dimensions when I purchase my next carryon then, rather than rely on the manufacturer calling it a carryon.

If challenged, I suppose they would rely on their statement being "carry-on style", rather than "carry-on".

Yeah - someone bought mrssimongr a "carryon" that is Qantas branded and is massive compared to Tumi 20in.
