Fair enough, I guess I'm getting schooled on the difference between a surcharge, a tax and a fee.

Ultimately the suggestion was that in the past that particular fee being double what it is now could have led to a $700 fee for what was a $1000 retail flight, and I'm going to have to solidly call BS on that, ignoring the fact that we all know Y redemptions to be poor value across the board.

End of the day the original suggestion was that QFF rewards were somewhere in the region of 70% of retail ticket prices and were ultimately worthless. Here we have a community of people who fly on them all the time. They aren't as good value as other airline redemptions and that's true, yet here you've got someone new to the game giving bad advice to someone else that's new to the game for the sole purpose of promoting their own brand choice (who cares, we all have dogs in the race here, keep it to yourself) defended by the suggestion that it's about our thoughts and feelings and not cold hard facts, and backed up by people who should know better but can't help getting a kick in for their team as well.

Makes it pointless to come here for advice, all you'll get is people trying to recruit you to their way of thinking regardless of what might work best for you. I don't give a damn if someone recommends that someone else flies Air Koryo, as long as they don't recommend it on the basis of what is nothing more than a story with no visible factual basis. What value does that add? Not enough to invest time and money in this site.
