Need travel insurance that covers award bookings across multiple programs

Amex advised me that my Qantas Ultimate and Platinum Edge travel insurance will not cover bookings if points were not redeemed from their programs - fair enough, no arguments there.

I made several J award bookings (and hotel stays) outside of Amex points redemptions.

Can anyone suggest paid travel insurance for my wife and I which covers these bookings made using points (including all related surcharges and taxes)?

WE, am in a similar position, will watch this thread with interest. for the first time my points redemption tickets didn't have much tax to pay so doesn't qualify for my CC travel insurance.

Some CC insurances don't require flights to be paid on the card for activation (eg. Westpac/St George you can put the $500 spend on any prepaid travel costs)

That sounds fine but only have the Amex cards listed here - so I’m not covered with those cards.

And some credit cards (ie HSBC Premier) don't cover you no matter what your tax is that you pay with the CC if your flight was a redemption ticket.

If you have an ANZ rewards card then TI may be available from something as simple as spending AU$250 or more for any travel component of your trip (accommodation, Fares, Tours etc.) to activate it.

Check the PDS as there are differences, some minor, some major - Credit Cards | ANZ .

If you're talking about standalone travel insurance that you purchase separate/unrelated to travel insurance bundled with a credit card, then any of them should cover you. I am not aware of any standalone travel insurance that cares how the travel is booked.

Same for Bankwest Zero Platinum ($500 prepaid travel costs which doesn't have to include flights).

The easiest is CommBank's complimentary travel insurance for Gold, Diamond and Platinum credit card holders - no spend required, simply register online.

Tossing up between Good2Go and World2Cover, they both score 71% in the Choice reveiw

I've had a couple of Good2go policies (contract in NZ lasted longer than I thought) and they extended them easily. I always choose no excess and have had a couple of small claims that were paid quickly with no intervention. I've just taken out another 12 month multi trip policy with them
