I have seen several of these in the QFF forum of late.

As it is late and I can't sleep I thought I would thow this out for anyone else out there like me.

I need 1,090SC by 31OCT09:shock:

Let's have wacky and cheap solutions. Bonus points for having to overnight in an odd VISA requiring country:lol:

DONE4 or 5, utilising full number of stops, is your best bet. Times 2.

Get to the USA on an award booking.

FLy several Y/KUPPS over a week. Cost should be around AUD3000 for that many SC's.

As a additional incentive, you would earn at least 10K QFF points in "loyalty bonii". :p

I have a similar number of SC required in the next 9 months or so to retain Plat.

How am I going to do it? Dunno yet.

But I'm sure I'll come up with something crafty, sneaky or otherwise unpublished to get there. :)

(Publishing it just gets any loopholes / legitimate ways that are cheap removed from the system).
 
I have 280 SCs at the moment and my renewal date is 31 Dec.
I will have 1480 points at the end of theyear due to a combination of overseas trips (thank you Qantas sales) and a few Instant Upgrades in the US.

Full details will be posted after each trip.

A SC run for 70 points is happening this weekend for $358

Only one DONE4 will be enough, or a single DONE3 even ;) especially if your using a strange routing... but you would need a couple of LONE4's, and that would be especially painful !

Here's a somewhat pedestrian DONE3 that'll get your required SCs. Mileage could be maximised a bit, and there are two sectors left over, but, as they say, "it does the job".

That DONE3 starts from NRT, probably one of the cheapest starting points at the moment (curse the stupid KRW) with cheap positioning flights (albeit on JQ).

That's not quite cheap - but wouldn't be bad for kicks. The wacky part is if you do the whole thing with minimal stopover time, a la Kiwi Flyer (FT) style. I should get bonus points after you work out how to explain to all the customs agents what the hell you are doing. :lol:



Next option: if there's another QF sale on that has travel dates before your QFF anniversary, then reposition to ADL and do lots of ADL-CBR (via SYD) runs. One ADL-SYD-CBR return is 50 SC a pop. So you only have to do that 20 times. You could do about 2 or 2.5 per day. :) A better SC rate than the DONE3, but pedestrian. (No bonus points.)

Another option only works before June 9, and it would be nice if they had another sale. Reposition to SYD, then SYD-AKL-SYD on LA800/LA801 J, booked on separate itineraries. Then lots of QFNZ, particularly AKL-WLG (best bang for buck). 10 SC a pop on AKL/WLG one-way; 160 SC for SYD/AKL return.

I wouldn't say necessarily. I could be shooting myself in the foot, and I don't have the depth of experience required, but so far most options are still meta-stable. To compensate, they are not really loopholes (I know a case of a real "loophole" that is not legit!), they are all legit and attempts to plug them would be a stupid business move (i.e. referring to specific examples that will remain unnamed, not in general).


After all my flights from late May to early June, I'll need just under 400 SC before the end of next February to retain WP. How I'm going to do that is going to be interesting.......

Forget the USA the easiest way would be to do 9 SIN-BKK business class returns with CX for 1080 SCs and I am sure you can use your imagination for the remaining 10 SCs.

I did not think you were a QFF member as per another thread you posted. :confused: I guess you are referring to your AA Executive Platinum status which does not really count for much on most QF domestic flights....

I am a QFF member - was gold to 30 Sep 2008 and then dropped to PS. Due to the coughpy domestic seating allocations for AA EXP I have switched back to QFF. I have been lucky enough to be comped to WP with 0 SCs YTD due to a corporate situation.

Sorry I got confused Simon as you mentioned in the other thread that you needed to join the QFF program. I assumed that you were not a member of QFF already. :oops:
 
No worries - it was QFF that said I should join QFF - they were not aware at that point that I wasnt a QFF member.
 
I have another 5 hours to kill here in the Perth QC so I was actually bored enough to look. It appears that I have earned 380 SC from Nov last year.




For some reason it doesn't say I need to do anything at all! There is some information about the SC's I require to keep my current status (assuming they don't comp me at their discretion) and even a fantasy figure about the next status, but nowhere does it say I need to do anything.

Apparently the world will not end if I don't achieve the same status this year. Of course the world might end if we all do, as the completely pointless exercise will add more pollution to the planet and cause major problems for our descendants to deal with.

As I said ... very bored.

Admin : feel free to delete this post in case in offends the majority of blinkered contributers. Wouldn't want to cause them stress.

Not particularly. Wednesday and Thursday were a bit intense, but today was a bit of a catch-up with customers I hadn't seen in a while and I ended up at Fibber McGees in the hope of a long session. Unfortunately I was abandoned at 6:30 and couldn't think of any better option than the QC. Sad 'innit?

But drunk or sober I have a very big problem with the so-called "status runs". Perhaps if they were renamed as "ego runs" people would think twice about them.

I'm sure given some time I could come up with something I disagree with in your life. Then again, I'm just planning to kill off the environment by using seats in planes that otherwise probably won't be sold - so what do I know?

I travel for work and pleasure, so I admit I am producing more than my fair share of carbon. But to do it for status .....
