Nespresso aboard QF - an idea.

Well you won't have to worry about that!! Your not allowed to bring hot beverages onboard QF flights :D
Really? Well you might like to tell that to the gentleman who regularly takes QF2210 from ABX to SYD on a Friday,I see him a lot and he always has a takeaway coffee with him when he boards,I've never seen him questioned about it.
Cheers

I like the fact that you are thinking outside of the square - something that QF needs to do...

However (sorry going to be all negative now) nespresso coffee is okay in a small office but I wouldn't want it if I had paid for an F ticket...

I actually think it would be an improvement on the plunger coffee currently served in F. The T2 teas are passable but after a long flight, even in J nothing would be better than a stiff macchiato pre-arrival.
The beauty of Nespresso is that they are idiot proof, they could even install one in the lounge at the front of the A380 for passenger self service.
As others have mentioned the OHS issues would be a nightmare sadly :(

Interesting comment in this puff piece for the PER 744 service:

Flight review: Qantas 747 jumbo domestic service Sydney-Perth

Sky Report's only black mark was our flight attendant's (albeit gentle) mocking when we put in our coffee order as "a long black".

"A long black. Would you like a twist with that?" he quipped with a friendly smile.

It took us a while to puzzle it out. Then we realised: there was no espresso on board, as many international services do have in business class these days.

This might be a largely international configuration. But there are still some things you can't get when you're not leaving Australian airspace.

Qantas doesn't serve plunger coffee in First, unless the machine isn't working for whatever reason, so is served as a back up.

It's always been some sort of pod, put into an espresso machine, with frothed milk depending on the coffee.

As simple as it sounds to install one, an airline version would resemble nothing like the one you have on your kitchen bench, and unfortunately no way you would ever be able to do it yourself.

It never ceases to amazing me how crazy people are over Nespresso coffee. The lines outside the 'boutique' at WBJ are amusing. An interesting article in Time not only illustrates just how loyal these caffeine addicts are, but how they are actually paying USD $137 per kilo.

Now do you still think it's convenient?

'See That, in a demitasse, explains Nestlé's remarkable patented crema-crankin' money machine — fast, tasty, idiotproof espresso under a generous layer of marketing froth to make the steep prices seem less daunting. How steep? At 55 cents for a 4-g capsule, Nespresso coffee works out to a nerve-jangling $62 per lb. ($137 per kg).'
