Just booked a return business class ticket on the VA website to JFK for next June and when presented with the seat selection screen it's still showing the old 2x3x2 layout.

Anyone know when the new 1x2x1 layout is meant to be loaded into the system?

Dunno, but it seems all VA 777 should be in the new layout by then.

I have moved my seat for a June flight from row 5 to 1A in anticipation.

That's what I would have thought.

By the way, what made you pick 1A? With the old configuration I always used to select 5C.

With the new configuration, I believe row 5 will lose it's current privacy ...

I have another flight in December - sticking with Row 5 for now ...

True, the privacy curtains will I think be a thing of the past. Not sure about 1A, it always seems to be a bit too close to the galley & toilets for my liking. Will just have to see just how the new seating ends up lbeing and for feedback from travelers.

We've got row 5 booked in March next year. Will have to see about changing as the roll out progresses.

Row 5 is greyed out from April onwards. Guess this is an indication of when the new seat configure kicks in?

I have seen an analysis based on when certain 777 services are not being operated; using that as a guide for when the aircraft are taken out of service for refurbishment.

First 2 of five before Christmas would give one transpacific each way daily.

Remaining three, Feb through April.

Seemingly not - I'm flying to LAX in very late April and back in mid-May and have managed to get myself placed in row 5.

The seats were allocated via the MCC (upgrade from Flexi to J on points) which could possibly have made a difference to row 5 availability.

Looking at the booking now, I can select from almost all seats in J including others in row 5.
