So its not a 'lottery' per se.
Thanks crisg for the clarrification.
I am hopeful of getting it now since I have signed up and purchased so far in advanced.
Cheers.
You have been lucky for those attempts. It's just that we have to be sure of giving our best try. Have you booked again with them?Again, for what it's worth, my 2 successful upgrades to date have only been requested ~3 days before travel.

It is a lottery but not the type of picking up the name of lucky winner from a bowl it is just about grabbing the opportunity. Good luck for your sign up.
I guess that is why this offer stands. The rationale of upgrades is based on the vacant seats in premium otherwise why the airline will let us guys in its premium for pennies. Thanks again...my fingers are crossed.
All the times I have travelled AA to/from KL (5) I reckon premium seating has only been about 1/3rd full, certainly no more than 1/2.

Do you have any status with this mob?
How often do u fly?

Upgrade worked fine, two meals included in premium cabin and endless supply of bottled water, slept for 10hrs on the almost flat bed.
Stansted arrival was 19 mins late at 21:49 due ATC congestion and with hand baggage & a UK passport in hand was in my cousins car at 21:57 and indoors at 22:06.
Bugger faffing about at Heathrow.
And here's a little quiz for you. What's the train fare from Liverpool St to STN? (Answer: more than your Ryanair ticket).
Well done on your upgrade, now you need to get KUL-STN, this sector is where you will benefit from the upgrade, forecasting light snow showers thursday evening in the Stansted area.
