Yeah - since I was lucky those times I put an upgrade in for my next flight (KUL-MEL mid dec) with them too. Haven't heard about that one yet.

All the times I have travelled AA to/from KL (5) I reckon premium seating has only been about 1/3rd full, certainly no more than 1/2.

I guess that is why this offer stands. The rationale of upgrades is based on the vacant seats in premium otherwise why the airline will let us guys in its premium for pennies.

They're a proper LCC (none of this DJ one foot in each camp stuff) so no loyalty program at all. They wouldn't have a clue who I am or how much I fly! They barely manage to have a website you can log into to keep track of your bookings.

In the last few years I've probably done 3x OOL-KUL returns, plus ~8 inter asia segments annually. I had a marathon OOL-KUL-Macau-KUL-Manila-KUL-KCH-SIN in the space of a week in July! Wasn't that a hectic week.

Next year those figures will go wayyyy down - no more student holidays (though, we only got 5 weeks a year so same as my next employer ... hmm ... but mr k_sheep might appreciate me staying in the country occassionally!) and I'll have more money to spend on a carrier that leaves from BNE!

Just applied for an upgrade KUL-STN on 20/02/11 for $176 +the $3 fee, don't have any booked bags or meals, hope it comes thru. :mrgreen:

$176 well spent I think.

Upgrade worked fine, two meals included in premium cabin and endless supply of bottled water, slept for 10hrs on the almost flat bed.

Stansted arrival was 19 mins late at 21:49 due ATC congestion and with hand baggage & a UK passport in hand was in my cousins car at 21:57 and indoors at 22:06.

Bugger faffing about at Heathrow.

Being that it is now two days before my flight will I hear anything if I don't get it?
I'm trying to leave booking food and baggage until the last moment so I'm not paying double on anything.

Just before I boarded yesterday I got the upgrade email for the Stansted leg and ive got my nice warm jumper ready to go.

Very happy with the lie flat yesterday, for someone who usually struggles to get any sleep on a plane I was out cold for a few hours.

Signed up for upgrade of OOL-KUL on 9 Mar. Got an email 3 hours before departure saying not successful, which was disappointing given that the premium cabin only had three occupants.

Due to fly KUL-OOL on 24 Mar, hoping will get something then. Anyone know how the quotas work for this?
