New Amex statement credits

I got it .. but it is always $50 minimum spend, and my car has a 27 L fuel tank so ...

(not that I'm asking for >$2/L fuel again!)
Time to buy a Jerry can perhaps? Pays off very quickly using say PetrolSpy's graph if you time the pricing cycle...

Regularly refilling our cars with fuel (when hit 25% full) priced 25 cents (or more) per litre cheaper. Best saving was 62 cents/litre x 20 x 2 Jerry cans.

Turo - 150 / 50
Florsheim - 175 / 30
Pelago - 100 / 15

Pelago seem to be serial offerers (if there is such a word)!

I got those on my Gold CC but the small Biz is missing Pelago, instead:

Energy Locals $40 / $40

Pelago is interesting as there are frequent 20% Cashback offers too

I think when the markup is high enough …. The discounts can be too.

I use Pelago to buy SkyBus tickets when there are Amex offers combined with decent cashbacks (sometimes 25%). Savings can be significant but it’s required to purchase minimum 3 return tickets which are valid for 3 months. Good for those of us who fly to MEL once every few weeks.

Point taken but for the things I’ve looked at Pelago seems similarly priced to Viator or Getmyguide. Of course direct is sometimes cheaper (though all too frequently not).

yep agreed. I didn’t mean Pelago is specifically more expensive, just the commissions in the industry are so high for tours and hotels etc. they can offer these huge discounts and still profit.

Energy Locals - Spend $40, get $40

I have zero choice in CBR but to use this company, some embedded power arrangement (i.e. scam) in the apartment building. Happy to take the dollars.

I received the Specials offer last couple of times on all three cards, this time just two of them. One of the better offers imo.

QANTAS - spend $15,000 or more get 15,000 bonus QFF points (so that would be 45k points)
Oh, just got an email reminder for this offer. I misread the details. It’s a general spend (not just QF)!

This is at least the second one of these I’ve had on this card.

Probably some sort of PHEV like a Mishitbus Outlander or similar. My brother has just bought one. 2.4 tonnes of EV with a small battery but a petrol engine connected to a CVT that kicks in at 70km/h to direct drive the front wheels and charge the battery at the same time as well.

I was staggered at the fuel tank size for something so huge. It's only something like 27 litres too, but as he drives mostly urban only, he rarely gets above 70km/h, so the engine basically never kicks in. He just drives it 100% on the battery everywhere and recharges at home at night. He's had it a couple of months now and I think he's been to a petrol station once. Used a lot of electricity though. Official fantasy consumption figure is something ridiculous like 0.4l/100km

That sounds perfect for an EV, not a hybrid?

A BEV depreciates like a dead goat thrown off a cliff. The objective was to get the tax rebates and incentives, but still end up with a car that's worth something at the end of the lease that still has another life in the second hand market. A PHEV fills that criteria for now, a BEV does not. Also he didn't wanna have to install a home charger on the wall and burn the house down in the middle of the night, so there was that factor to consider too. He just plugs it into a standard 10A three-pin GPO outlet in the garage. The battery is only 19kWh or something, so it's small enough to fully charge overnight. Range is limited obviously without the petrol engine, but just used for home-to-work and back urban, it's more than enough. Towing, long distance, heavy loads, track performance… no, but getting to work and back each day, it's fine.

No Ampol for my Explorer or wifes Velocity Plat.... AGAIN!
Same for my Escape and Disco. Been a while since there's been any decent usable offers on AMEX actually. It's all just weird esoteric, leftie, greenie, hippie outlets selling hemp sandals in Byron Bay no-one's ever heard of or will ever visit.

Fortunately the closest Ampol to me is frequently also the cheapest and I have a permanent 4c/l discount there by using their FuelPay phone app, so I just use that.
