New booking engine is up

Friend booked a flight for $280. Credit card was authorised for $280 x FIFTEEN!! And to top it all...no actual reservation was made!

WOW.

I'm thinking the mods should perhaps retitle this thread "New booking engine is up......the creek"!

And people are still booking with them. I wont be booking any more seats with them until they get their act together. We only spend around 30k a year with them, bugger all compared to some, I know, but there are lots of those 30k spenders and if they all get the ****s, thats quite a revenue stream destroyed, but QF will get that now, on top of what we give them already. I would like to keep using them, but its a painful experience to use their website, and with all these reports of autocanelling and lost bokings, I cant take the risk, if we book, we need to have confirmed seats.
Surely they must be about to sue the backside off whoever was implementing this system. They are really becoming a joke. Maybe they should put red noses on all their planes, because they are bloody clowns at the moment. Damn shame, because they really had created a good brand, and some real goodwil, which they have totally destroyed. Well done Virgin, Well done.

Just spoke to the call centre about the delay in points crediting. It has been caused by a backlog in flown bookings from Navitaire requiring manual processing in Sabre, once the amount of Navitaire booking reduces we can expect to see the processing time drop. To add to the troubles with Sabre the GCC had to be evacuated due to the weather during the week and the staff had to move offices.

Thanks jneufeld. Yes, the HQ basement flooded as usual (from Breakfast Creek surge) and I suppose some staff may have been cut off or delayed in traveling to work (particularly southsiders).

The VA Sabre Project team are in the building next to mine. That makes sense that some of the HQ team came to this office, as the pre-implementation team had vacated by 15 Jan, so there was plenty of space and computers already set up. I had seen lots of coming and going, thought that was just HQ Management trying to work through the post implementation issues.

So as noted elsewhere the international bookings are working, cool. But now I can't book a J booking anywhere, domestic or otherwise! The heck? I was looking at some flights TSV-SYD yesterday, J availabilty pretty much any time I wanted, and now the same days, all gone. All sold out. I'm dearly hoping this is something that hasn't been loaded correctly and not something more malevolent.

I thought someone said they were doing a data migration today, so I guess some glitches are likely for the next day or two?

I can see TSV-SYD routes in Feb, March and May in J, not sure when you want to go but the 2 flight option is the way to go if you want the SCs

Did you mean redemptions? I can't book any redemptions any dates in J... all 'sold out'

Get your friend to call their bank .. while it's probably not something that could be called fraud (due to it being a preauth and not a txn), VA deserve to have the book thrown at them for this one.

Yes J reward redemptions, what dates are you looking at?

Amateur hour on the VA fare desk again. Probably broke at the same time they fixed Y redemptions to Europe. :-|

Well the dates I looked at, I can book from before and including 25-Mar but completely sold out from 26-Mar through to.... 12-Jun. At first I thought they blocked out Easter (nevermind that as mentioned before there were fares yesterday even on Good Friday) but through to June seems a tad excessive.

Odd thought... Status wouldn't preclude the ability to see certain fares would it? I notice that you are plat, while I am gold. Doubt that would enter into it but the way things have been lately, who knows?

I don't think the status changes things in regards to more booking being available. I just looked in May and could see 12th and 18th but didn't search everyday. When I had a look the first time there didn't seem to be much in April. Obviously they are still sorting it all out or maybe they got into our spreadsheet! I think their biggest priority is making sure the booking engine that gets them true revenue, eg cash payments is 100% working before rewards redemptions are.

I get confused as to which site they're sending me. One thing I do know, I'm sick to death of being told to "Sign in"! I have bloody signed in......over and over!

I have had to clear the cookies to fix this when it happens.

Thank goodness Firefox allow site specific deletion.
