My web browser kept playing up each time I tried to go into the site. I have no idea who the travel deals are going through. I figured flybuys were planning something like this after reading some of the questions in the recent travel survey. I think the travel website section is running too much javascript.

Sorry to hear you've had problems - are you able to let us know your browser and version, as we'd like to investigate? Our partner is Corporate Travel Management and we're confident you'll find a very good selection of travel options for flights, hotels and car hire at competitive prices. You'll earn points on every booking and you can pay for your travel with any combination of cash or points.

I had a quick look this morning.

Pricing seemed pretty good. FBT priced flights at $105 that ranged from $99 to $135 on the QF site. So it looks like a fixed price for the lowest few fare buckets.

I didn't proceed to the payment page, but did notice it stated "This airline may charge a fee based on your payment method. This fee is reflected on checkout."

I'm using the equivalent of Firefox 17.0.10

It's probably considered an old browser version, although I'm still getting used to the idea that a few years is considered old in computing terms. I should be upgrading at some point this year to a later version that will run on our network. We also run No Script on our network. I allow some scripts to run on the flybuys website which allows me to access the features I want. The travel section of the site appears to be run by a different website and appears to want lots of javascript to run in order to display the site correctly, and display lots of banners and advertising, I'm guessing.

I'll have another look at it in a few months when I'm ready to plan my travels.

I got on and did a quick search for hotels I have been looking at for an upcoming trip and the prices were all +$300 above all other quotes I got so far. Not really impressed.

I just did a basic search for MEL to BNE on September 8th.. Coles is 4 dollars cheaper at $124 vs $129. And you get Flybuys and Virgin points..

I am assuming the bonus points apply to bookings made within the promotional period and not have to book AND travel in that period??????

Correct. Flybuys will be posted up to two weeks after the flights (or whatever) are taken.

If I can get flybuys points - plus credit card and airline points, all for the same price as elsewhere: then I may as well use it.

I have a couple of issues with the site though - I would like to see Tigerair prices listed, even if I am not going to fly them (I do book others onto TT from time to time and am also interested in keeping an eye on their price points).

And, if I select Jetstar outbound, the inbound selection of flights will only show Jetstar for the return segment (and not allow you to return with Virgin or Qantas). Similarly from the opposite angle, if you select Qantas or Virgin for the outbound flight, it won't display inbound Jetstar flight options for the return sector. (Mixing and matching between Virgin and Qantas sectors in either direction works fine though.)

Flybuys Travel

Flybuys had axed their partnership with Webjet.com.au (no tears there).

And they have launched their own travel website flybuys Travel https://www.flybuystravel.com.au

I have booked some flights on Qantas and Virgin, so far no issues. However, I havent flown those flights yet.

Seems a good deal, earn flybuys ontop of normal FF points. Booking is easy too.

What have been other people's experiences?

I recently booked a quite complicated OS open-jaw ticket using FlyBuys travel, it couldn't be booked using their website (apparently it doesn't do non-Aust open-jaws), so I had to call the number they listed, but the process was very smooth. The agent knew exactly what they were doing, was able to put the tickets on hold whilst I arranged payment and it was all done very quickly.

The best bit was they were half the price that webjet, flightcentre and expedia.com.au had quoted, and the same price (taking into account exchange rate) as what hipmunk and expedia.com quoted (which was the cheapest price I could find online).

All up I'd give them an big thumbs up for my first booking. Lets just hope the points credit smoothly!!!

I booked a couple of Domestic QF flights during the recent DSC promotion redeeming points on the flybys travel portal.

Really impressed as the QF flights were credited correctly to my QFF account in regards to the bonus SC's :)

For JQ bookings, I have noticed that 'plus' and 'max' bundles for JQ bookings cannot be added whilst constructing a booking on the new flybys travel portal though.
Although This is the case on most third party websites for JQ I would point out.

Will look to use the Flybys Travel portal for other carriers in the near future, as keen to earn the Flybys points.

Not happy Flybuys got rid of direct hotel redemptions. Looking at the portal, most Hotel prices are ridiculous compared to the set prices.

I haven't done a comparison for hotels on the flybys travel Website against other third party sites , although In my case I would look at Qantas Hotels now that All hotels offer 3 QFF points per dollar as opposed to flybys that offer just 1 point per dollar spent.

Re: Flybuys Travel

I was doing a quick comparison with the ones I booked through hotels.com and they are quite similar, sometimes flybuys got the same price as hotels.com, sometimes more expensive but not huge. Don't see the point of booking there yet though.

Did.a comparison between using FB points and QF points for a hotel. Can't remember which, but one was like $25 cheaper in total.

Another difference was one included brekkie, the other not.
