What is the disadvantage in buying flights through flybuys travel ?
I want to purchase a $400 domestic transcon flight, i would normally buy direct through the VA website but FB have the flight listed at the same price as VA.
If buying through FB i can get around 4000 FB points with their current promotion. Won't I still earn status credits and 2000 + velocity points after the flight ?
Also If paying with an AMEX Velocity platinum card am I going to miss out on bonus points or something.?

A huge benefit of purchasing flights through the Flybys travel portal that is often over looked is the ability to offset the total cost of the flight using Flybys dollars. Unlike other loyalty programs ( hello I'm looking at you Qantas) you don't lose value in redeeming your points in this way.
Personally, I'm not interested in coverting Flybys points into velocity points so once I have a sufficient amount of Flybys dollars saved up, I will purchase a flight which will help to significantly reduce the amount payable through a redemption of my Flybys dollars.
I have purchased a number of Qantas flights on the Flybys travel portal that are priced at the same price as per the Qantas Website, at little to no cost to me, yet still earns QF points and SC's.
Flybys has its benefits not just for VA brigade , but also those who are loyal to the red roo like myself.

The only thing I can think of is that it will put a travel agent between you and the airline. For many this won't matter, but for some of the more high maintenance folk, this may be an issue. Having said that, I have not really heard anything bad about FlyBuys travel.
