Resurrecting this thread - Any word on when the new SYD-DRW services will be bookable?

Thinking of an NT visit in April and hoping that the service will be online soon (and hopefully with a nice launch sale).

Ironically the NT Tourist Commission had big bus shelter ads in inner city Sydney in October last year for the top end of the NT, sponsored by Virgin Australia. Now there's actually going to be services directly to Darwin it might be time to re-run the campaign...

Great times VA :D. Obviously targeting international customers arriving early morning on VA,EY,SQ,DL wanting to connect through, as opposed to providing a connection to the new Silk Air service to Singapore (12 hour wait in DRW), in addition , placing direct competition to the QF day flight. I only wish this was in a month ago when i was up there, but will use it on my next trip to DRW

word on the street for the new lounge opening (from a darwin source). it'll be opening early next year - before the end of the financial year (was how it was described to me...)

I'm looking forward to the Darwin lounge, because I see the Qantas FFs using their lounge and im really jealous.

Although I don't know where they are going to put the Virgin lounge, because Darwin's airport is tiny.

Don't know how much of an impact this has on KF members but I wonder was this done at the request of SQ or *S to protect their top tiers?

No Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer status on Virgin Australia flights - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Think you will find that is the same with Air NZ as well. Air NZ flights get status when credited to Velocity, but VA/DJ flights do not when credited to NZ Airpoints. Not sure of situation with Delta, but wouldn't be surprised if it is the same.

I'll try this from another angle

Will Virgin be codesharing on Silkair flights (e.g. SIN-DRW), and if so, will those flights be eligible for Velocity points?

I'm flying Codeshare with SQ on this leg later in the year, but it can also work with DJ.

I think it's on hold while the terminal gets a rework, at present there is no room, they should of grabbed the golden wing lounge while it was still there a few years ago.

Having spoken with the development manager at DRW, the whole terminal will be complete by this time 2014. One end will be completed by mid-2014 and the other by the end of 2014 - not sure which section the DJ Lounge is in...
