Agreed. As I commented earlier, it would only be in the case of an actual emergency, otherwise domestic configured aircraft are simply never used on the main long-haul international services, they are not set up for it. Remember of course the 743 was a standard longhaul aircraft that has been subbed into domestic service.

Yes, while people seem to complain about the 743 being used on int services, it is actually an int config plane that just happens to be doing domestic servces most of the time.

Any plane that gets me there safely and has a good crew is a good plane :)
But why complain from PER-SIN about a 743 ??? thats still better option than a lot of the CX regional config planes. (ok to LAX may not be so much fun but i am sure its on that route due to the loads in whY)

FWIW, about 3 years ago I saw an ex BA VH-ZX* patiently waiting at a gate at STD T1 to take PAX to HNL (IIRC). This from the J lounge so it was before my current WP era ...

In fairness, it was a last minute substitution.

no closure on this thread.... What sort of seating in J?

well, as I sit in the PER QP looking at my A330 (VH-EBJ) below me and my boarding pass showing seat 3F, I guess I am soon to find out...

I must admit, I am surprised by the number of 717's I have seen today...

Millennium 2-2-2 when I flew on it! (though ISTR it may have gone to 2-3-2?) - and may be going back to 2-2-2 again?

Do let us know!

QF seatmaps (not always the most up-to-date source) shows

VH-EBJ, EBK are 2/2/2
VH-EBM is 2/3/2

The international 332s and all the 333s are 2/2/2

So it would seem there's only ONE 332 that is 2/3/2 strangely. This may be one that QF "repossessed" from JQi.

I cant access Qflyer at work, but can anyone see what they list?

Not according to qantas' own website (fleet info) - the regos are at the top right corner of the pdfs.

The seat maps I get off the Qantas site suggest

VH-EBM 2-2-2
VH-EBK/EBJ 2-3-2

(EBK is soon to be getting an orange star on its tail)

The new A330 coming into the QF fleet will have the new QF 'domestic long haul / trans tasman / international short haul' treatment.

As everyone already knows all new QF 73H's delivered from now on (31 coming and I think about 3 delivered so far) hav PTV in both economy and business.

The new A330 designatied for domestic long haul will feature the same which is fantastic - especially for Y passengers! I believe both J and Y class will be the new seats - same as the 73H.

So basically there will now be 3 configs for QF

Int long haul: F, Skybed J, Prem Y, Y (all PTV)
Dom long haul/Int short haul/TT: Silverwing J / Weber Y (all PTV)
Dom: Millenium J / Standard Y

A good move foward, will make alot of the routes I frequent more comfortable.

My PER/SYD flight was great. I worked the entire flight, laptop plugged into the in seat power supply, GREAT food and a couple of nice drinks

I was surprised at the service - I truly was, funny though, the crew seemed to be about 60% Asian - I dont know if there is a significance in this or not...

J seating 2x3x2

Food - I chose the beef for lunch!

This was the "old" new domestic 332 configuration introduced last year which is the subject of this thread. The 763/332 Millennium seats have had the in seat-power since Qantas switched to the grey fabrics.

Lol, no - we had QF Group and Virgin in a few weeks back to pitch for our travel account and I was the marketing/sales person appointed to sit thru the presos.

Mostly numbers and rebates but QF went into all their fleet enhancements coming up which was really interesting and good news (new check in cards, advance domestic seat selection, new AVOD for 737s and dom A330s, priority security coming etc etc)

Unfortunately DJ had nothing exciting coming up! Couple of new lounges was all they could muster.

QFF577 operating between Sydney and Perth last Saturday was an international config plane with skybeds in J class.

Should be the standard on transcontentional flights.

I, and no doubt all other Sandgropers, heartily agree.
