OffT, now too that Queen Elizabeth has passed away, be ready for a Referendum (soon?).OnT.
Bonza have said from the outset, they won't be starting a FF program, so this is like the JQ of old, ie, before they had the smarts to join QFF.
They (Bonza) will be the modern day Tiger Air.
ULLC, cheap, no frills, no aerobridges, nothing on board without first paying, ...
Do they have a website yet?
Edit, ah, of course they do, couldn't remember, but just had a look, they do, but its a parking spot for the name and not a lot more, still can't book seats yet.

they have no direct competition, except 2 jetstar routes. Nothing like Tiger at all. Following a well worn very successful path used overseas. As long as they don't try to grow too fast, cannot see how they can go wrong. They will get support in regional areas, as growing the market.

Bonza will offer a 27-route network across 17 mostly regional locations in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. The company's third Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft touched down at its base on the Sunshine Coast this week.

the only way to fly most of their routes with opposition, is to do 1 or 2 stops & take all day doing it. Could be up to 8 times the cost to do a route with existing airlines. It's a no brainer.

Bonza media statement just released

"Friday 27 January 2023: Flights are now on sale for Australia’s newest low-cost airline Bonza to many of the country’s hidden regional gems. As part of Bonza’s phased rollout of flight releases, travellers are now able to book flights to 12 destinations on 15 routes.

Aussie travellers are advised to book direct on the Fly Bonza app to get the lowest fares and to score a seat on the airline’s first flights, starting with Sunshine Coast to Whitsunday Coast on Tuesday 31 January. Travellers will be able to lock away holiday plans for Easter, school holidays and long weekends with flights available to book up until late October 2023."

If you had the (edit - Android) app installed in the past, you need to uninstall it and download the latest version - it doesn't update.
How hard could it have been for them to allow bookings on a website? Then again, I suspect they don't want scrapers checking their inventory. Or they're just really cheap.

So the flight MCY - PPP on 31/1 is showing as sold out. The real first flight to PPP for the ordinary punter is 16/2.

Fare $59 for flight only with a carry on or $80.60 for a checked bag and seat selection included.

travel agents have access & anyone can be a travel agent these days. No requirements

I'm using iOS and was able to update the app and go to the booking screen. Not that I'll be able to accommodate a Bonza booking soon since Allstralia doesn't include WA

have heard from a PPP local, that the business community there are all for the new flights, as opens up a whole new market.

Every one of the inaugural flights on each route is sold out. Meanwhile the app has got some wicked bugs still which is disappointing given how long they’ve had to prepare. This one almost is long enough to be a bus:

Avalon to Cairns makes an appearance in the search also which is interesting.

That is one I would actually use if it’s closer to a near daily service.

the last thing Bonza should do, is start too many routes too soon, with too many flights. 2 a week can suit the leisure traveller, so can do eg. 3, 4 or 7 nights away.

I most certainly wish Bonza luck, but historically there just doesn't seem to be enough low cost leisure passengers in Australia to keep an airline operating in the black.

To atc123 saying they are following a well proven European MO, don't forget there are 450M people in Europe so you only need a fraction of a percentage of the flying public to be in business versus our population. While they have flights to and from locations others aren't flying is that because people don't want those routes in any large numbers.

Myself, I'm happy to pay more for more.

No, like literally most routes don't start until March.

Even MCY-PPP, after the first flight on 31 Jan, doesn't fly again for 2.5 weeks.
