I noted the specific mention of hot food. So wondering if the pleb lounge will lose the food now? I thinks its always god to attain top tier status in one program if you can.
Yes, they might get reduced down to something like the offering in the AA lounges - nuts, trail mix and tea/coffee. If that's the case, most SG's and QP members would be better off sitting in a cafe. Maybe that's the idea?

I wonder if there is any possibility that the CL and new BIZ/WP lounges will be consolidated.

Not sure where they will get floor space for a new lounge without dramatically reducing the size of the existing QP's (as Yada Yada has suggested)

Just so long as they don't include Pretzels and tipping the bar tender

Only 4? I would have expected you to have 4 domestic flights per DONE4.

When I lock in 16-17 int'l flights those domestic ones just seem a little pointless - I am almost tempted not to bother doing my Oz mileage run SYD-PER-ADL-SYD in August... maybe leave it to nextx year...

There is a "spot" i like to sit in at T3 SYD QP (that is nearly always available)... anyway it is near the "other" escalators to the terminal... and with both being "going down" escalators, I have always found it strange to have an unoccupied "welcome" desk at the apex of descent?
These were actually in use for two-three years, ceasing early this year IIRC.

I guess it's more cost effective to have only the one entrance in operation, or maybe too many people were getting multiple guest entry.

well , if we get rid of all the WP's out of the QP , there may be room for the rest of us lowly golds:lol:

Not that there will ever be a seperate biz lounge in sydney terminal 2!
Thats why I didn't take the SC run on the DONE 4 next week
Its not much use being a WP if you only fly dash 8's:evil:

We QAN WP SYD T2 users just need to hope, that Virgin Blue was silly enough to give up rights to "the Lounge" when presented with access instead to the "Golden Whinge" by MacBank... but then, who knows?

Now theres a thought!
Maybe when Geoff next flies home to Wagga to visit his hotel he'd like somewhere nice!

I liked the old Golden whinge club
Maybe if Virgin start flying here i'll visit !

Wash your mouth out!!

And you call yourself a frequent flyer!!

Well I guess golds will now be the big fish in the small pond.

If the QC lowers its standards even the slightest, I think I may have to start flying more and get platinum.

It's starting to look more and more attractive.

On a related topic - on the QF homepage, where they have those flash ads on the left hand side - I keep seeing this add for platinum status. Does everybody get that or is it only if you are a logged in gold member? (Which I am). If so that's smart marketing.

However I know I'd love to be platnum. To get it I will have to start taking flights for the hell of it or start paying my own way in J (not an attractive option). When I'm paying I can't justify domestic J.

I think we're forgetting a rather large percentage of pax in the QC - those with paid QC memberships.

I really can't see them dropping the QP standards too much, given that many customers in there have paid their own way. If they dropped hot food from the QP and kept it for Business Lounges only, I dare say they'd be losing a lot of paid QP members.

I'm hoping to make WP in December, so looks like I'll have the necessary status well before these new lounges are introuced. :)

I get that too, and figured it was due to my gold status (and the fact that I'm a few hundred SC's from Platinum).

Cheers,
- Febs.

No Platinum ad for me. Instead I get an A380 racing across my screen, a "Win a trip with the Wallabies" competition, a "Get the flight you want promotion" (delayed payment) and "Coming Soon: Premium Economy" adverts.

The thought had crossed my mind.

I wonder whether WPs will be able to access the new lounge at anytime?

I wonder if you'll be able to ODU in the QP and then shoot across to the J lounge with your new boarding pass :)

I think that should be allowed - had you upgraded in advance using points you would no doubt have access, and ODUs are the same number of points, so it seems only fair.

It seems really strange to me, why not just make a bigger lounge all together, i don't see all that much difference between being WP and paid QC member. After all if they wanted to reduce the number of QC people in the lounges then just increase the cost for membership or stop giving it so cheap for all the corperate types.

I really do wonder what will be different in each... i guess we will see soon.

Can anybody guess, or do they know, the location of these new lounges in the resprective terminals? I suppose if they cut off a corner of each existing lounge that won't do a lot for overcrowding for those who remain?

Well it will all depend on how strict they are to allowing entry.
If they enforce the 1 guest rule that will cut out the heeps of 1 QC member plus partner and 1,2,3..... kids.

Actually, WP's can indeed have 2 Guests - they don't need to be flying (nor the WP for that matter).

Also, members of a family are often admitted beyond the 1 or 2 guest limit.

(Of course this may all change with the introduction of these lounges and/or further program 'enhancements'.)
