New Hotel at AKL airport

Just had a stay at Novotel AKL airport and noticed a new building coming out of the ground right next door. Investigation shows it is a new 5 star Pullman hotel scheduled for 2022 completion. Its good to seen another quality hotel at AKL. That will be 3 hotels at the airport all under the Accor banner and without competion this means not much for the guest in the way of decent prices. Same as Accor have BNE tied up with 3 properties

Was in Auckland over the weekend and noticed the new Pullman being constructed. We stayed at the Pullman in the city and I mentioned the airport hotel at check in and the staff member said it was slated for a end of Feb 2022 opening at this stage. Part of quite a decent sized airport overhaul by the sounds of it

Also meant to say in the OP the dining room and bar at the Novotel is closed for renovations and service is available on level 2. Peeking through the screens it is a major refit with everything pulled out and removed, tables, bar, carpets and ceiling all gone. Would suggest it will be closed for the foreseeable future (perhaps 2+ months)

Regarding the Novotel refurb, this is the email I received from the hotel a few weeks back:

Dear.....

Happy New Year from Novotel Auckland Airport.

We have an important announcement to share with you – commencing early January 2020, the ground floor lobby and restaurant will undergo an exciting refurbishment.

The Square Restaurant & Bar will close for business from the 3 January and our new exciting concept, Thirteen50 Bistro & Bar, will be launched mid-March.

During this time, the Team will be operating a temporary restaurant and drinks service on level 2 of the hotel, offering our signature breakfast buffet, a limited 24hr a la carte menu and a buffet dinner option daily.

Our drinks service period will alter slightly, from 8am – 1am daily, with a limited in-room dining menu available 24/7.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you in the new year.
