Pretty frustrated with HSBC - closed my Plat CC Account because they didnt have a QFF CC - now i see they are starting one. Only closed my account 2 weeks ago. You would think they might have mentioned this to me....

Frustrating!

HSBC staff are automatons, designed to provide standard, approved responses rather than to think, and heaven forbid provide customer service! The problem with this approach is that after three such 'canned responses' that showed no appreciation or understanding (or for that matter showed no relevance to the issue at hand!) I took all of my business elsewhere.

The problem is that HSBC staff in Australia don’t seem to get customer service. In the other places I have an account, Hong Kong and New Zealand, they’re great and bend over backwards for customers.

I’m holding out hope they get a shake-up one of these days, but as I like to do everything online without human interaction anyway, it’s not really an issue. Only an issue when I have to go into a branch and the staff have to actually do some work.

Totally agree guys, i have used them in HK, USA and even mongolia! Great service and staff. Pity the same can not be said for australia!

I have seen this card advertised when I view my QFF profile. Cannot find anywhere in the t&c any mention of annual fee or a lack thereof. Includes a sign up bonus, qc passes and other benefits. Has anyone applied for it and/or knows what the annual fee is?

Thanks
LP

It's $199pa.. I couldn't find it initially either. Someone else pointed it out!

Earn 2 Qantas Frequent Flyer points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases1 overseas
Earn 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every $1 spent on eligible purchases1 in Australia.

Might just be the card to use overseas. Plus, it's the only QFF card that offers 2 invitations to the Qantas Club lounge.

Qantas Amex Premium gives 2 Qantas Club passes per year after a Qantas purchase.

Before you commit to it as an overseas use card, question the fees. These appear to be 3% for international transactions (or 2% for Premier), have no experience to judge the exchange rate they use. Considering the annual fee and any transaction charges, it may not be worth the additional point per $. YMMV.

For a global bank though, they don't encourage o/s transactions on their transaction accounts - $10 fee per transaction (including Visa Debit), plus the usual extortionate exchange rate and commission/fee.

This sounds good. I saw the ads just few days back. Is there any cap on points?

What do you mean this sounds good? This sounds horrible!

There are much better options.

Citi business gold gets you 1.25pt per dollar on a visa card for around $150 annual fee. Don't know if the 40k bonus point offer still available

Theres another card that gets 1pt/$ on MasterCard. $0 fee first year and I think 5k bonus points. But I hate the company issuing it so I shall not name it.

This card might have good insurance. ( I haven't read the pds) but point earn wise not a very good card

It does sound good to my ears..Locally, $1 spend equals 1 QFF point.
I don't know if Citi points translate to same number of QFF points.

It does. Only catch is you need to transfer point across to QF in blocks of 10k.

I have this card.

Does anyone know if you can get the card with the current 20,000 bonus sign up points, wait for the QFF points to post after a purchase, and then get a pro-rata refund of the $199 annual fee?

The points take 2 months to post and QC invitations are sent quite quickly after signing up. I recently tried to cancel mine after the first year and was comped for the second year so still have the card. No idea about a refund?

The 20K points bonus is still on until sept 30.

So for an Extra $100 you get a sup card free?
So better than Bankwest?
Points cap is?

300,000 cap on HSBC.
BankWest 200,000 cap.
Woolworths uncapped but run by HSBC.

As a personal spender, the caps are not an issue for me.

The key with Bankwest for me is that it does not charge FX fees (whilst not issuing extra points for OS txns I'd rather not have the 3% fee)
