Not sure if it has ever been away but there is a sign on bonus of 20,000 points on the QFF Member Specials page

Is this still the case? If so, is there any option for an automatic monthly sweep as with other issuers?

Yes - I got this card last year (Sept/Oct from memory) and the Qantas points automatically go in at each statement. No transferring required, it's all automatic. I think some other HSBC cards have "HSBC Rewards" which may be what has been referred to.

Ahh brilliant! :D Great to hear - I didn't want to wait until I earn 10K to see the points! The 2pts/$1 on overseas transactions will be a nice little earner when I manage to get the $6k min limit required (I have the no annual fee basic card (in a drawer) with a $5500 limit)..... crossing my fingers that my $500 increase request is approved so that I can product switch) :D haha

No issues getting the annual fee waived in the second year, for those interested.

Me too, actually I rang to cancel and she just waived the fee as a way to keep, not only not a problem, it seemed like this was something they had been expressly trained to do.

I'll remember that for when the annual fee comes up next year - many thanks! My limit increase was approved, so I sent the product change form off today... see how long they take to process it!

Another question - on reading through the T&Cs, I've noticed that 'technically' the card earns 2pts/$1 on both foreign transactions and QF purchases in Australia (flights, QFF joining and QP joining & renewal), though the summarised version on both the HSBC website and the QFF cards site makes no mention of QF as a bonus partner (the only 2pts/$1 bonus mentioned is for international transactions). Are QF still a current bonus partner, or is the information in the T&Cs that I came across simply out of date?

*bump*

Seems to still be the case (above) – I'm definitely not earning 2 points per $1 on QF transactions (not that I am using this card for QF spend anymore)... is everyone experiencing a similar thing, or have you all just stopped using the card for QF as I have? :p

I recently paid the taxes/fees for some classic award flights using Qantas points on Cathay metal using my HSBC card, and the transaction has only posted 1 point per dollar. Does anyone thing this should be 2 points per dollar since it's a Qantas booking? Indeed, the only two transactions from the month show up as "Qantas Mascot etc" - one flight on QF metal posted double points, the other as above.

Is it worth a phone call over 500 points?!

Maybe the systems are more sophisticated than we realise.

Maybe not that sophisticated: I recently bought a Qantas flexi fare and only 1 point per $ was posted. Very frustrating to waste time following this stuff up. Has anyone else had similar experiences with Qantas fares only doing 1 point per $, not 2?
