New IHG bonus point offer

And points from credit card spend and stays are finally starting to post again, which hopefully means the worst of the hack is behind IHG.

I have 14 nights booked before the end of the year so the 4/10 offer for me.

A lot more of my stays are 2 nights rather than 4 nights, so I took the 2 night offer. It is interesting to present the choice in this way, which means you have to do some quick maths on your upcoming bookings

Though I read it as 10k every 4 nights not 10K for a 4 night stay.
So 2 night stays would qualify for 10K rather than 2 lots of 2K.

I read through the terms and conditions since I wasn't sure, be nice if they made this a bit clearer

It says
"If a member has registered for the 2,000 Points Offer, the member can earn 2,000 IHG One Rewards bonus points each time they complete two (2) Qualifying Nights during the Promotion Period (defined below)."

If they needed to be a two night stay, it would say this. As it is written, it can be made up of 2 stays of one night each.

So for anyone staying more than 3 nights during the promotional period, they would be better taking the 10k points for 4 nights?

Guess I just missed out on a good number of points in that case

Correct. If you're you will have 4 or more nights, the 10,000 point offer is better.

For me, it is a killer deal. I have IHG Premier card so stay 3 nights and get 4th night free :)
Yes, it‘s a pity IHG don’t extend that perk. Hilton at least has 5th night free for any Silver and above.

So if you buy extra points and then use them to pay for stays, those nights dont count toward status retention right?

I always hesitate when this question is asked. But pretty sure award nights (including points and pay) are not “qualifying stays”.

Unlike HH - which do, plus the 5th night free!

Reward nights and cash and points rate are qualifying rates so nights and stays do count for status. I can confirm that it is true.

From the T&Cs.
Qualifying Rates: Qualifying Rates include Reward Night/Free Night*, IHG Employee Discount Rate and most business and leisure rates, such as Advance Saver rates, Best Flexible rates, Global sales negotiated rates (including but not limited to Corporate Gold rates), national/regional/local government rates, and specified leisure rates as confirmed by IHG’s reservation systems. In Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan), Qualifying Rates include all locally negotiated rates. Note: In Greater China, Qualifying Rates also include all corporate negotiated rates settled with hotels via regular payment. In all other parts of the world, locally negotiated rates are classed as Qualifying Rates if the rate is discounted less than 30%.
*When staying on a Reward Night/Free Night, Members will not earn Points or partner miles/credits on the room rate or room rate equivalent; however, Points are awarded for all other eligible charges.

The IHG Ts&Cs say they’re not but I’m sure they post as nights - hence my hesitation! 😳

I can confirm that staying 3 nights and getting a 4th-night free count toward your qualifying stays. It was actually very interesting that if you book 2 rooms (1 paid and 1 via reward points), it counts as only 1 set of qualifying stays. However, I noticed that my "Milestone Reward" counted reward bookings and paid stays. I stayed 4 nights at IHG Hayman and booked 2 rooms (1 paid and 1 via points). I received 8 nights for my Milestone Reward and only 4 nights for a qualifying stay.
