Not quite - it depends on when you renew. My AMB membership was to Sep 2022, but you can renew membership up to about 90 days prior to that, which I did at the start of June. So I've added 12 months to that September expiry.

Interestingly, I can't find anywhere on either the IHG web, IHG app or IC AMB page where I can see my AMB expiry date... There's no option to print a card anymore, so that's not there to check either. Closest I can find is the expiry date for my IC AMB free weekend night vouchers, which show Sep 2022 and Sep 2023.

Prior to the renewal, my IHG Diamond Elite status was Dec 31 2022, and after renewal that moved to Dec 31 2023.

There has never been lounge access as a benefit to IHG elites, or available to buy as a pass, previously. Lounge access was only given to Royal Ambassadors, and I think only at Club IC & Regent lounges. It's a great development, however I do wish they had included a spend or points target as another way to get there without 40 nights.

Yeah, I'd never hear of a "Lounge pass" before and I've been a member since last century (Priority Club days) but never Ambassador. I guess they probably think that peeps who stay that many nights have already used points or paid for IC AMB?

IMHO, I find "nights" usually easier to get to rather than "stays" or $$$ spent. But yeah, there's a quite a few nights at IHG to get the more interesting rewards in this case.

It's different for all, I guess. Travelling with a small family for leisure, I tend to spend a lot on suites and the like, but I can't get to the nights... or not across multiple chains, if I do. Thankfully if you are staying in suites and the like, you usually have the lounge access anyway. It's more of an issue when I travel for work and I have to book a lead-in room.

I've just renewed IC AMB using some surplus IHG Rewards points in my account... and am happy to report that my Diamond Elite status has been updated to reflect 31 Dec 2023, from 31 Dec 2022. Keep it on the 'down low', good folks.

Got the same extension when I renewed back in Feb. Amb Diamond Elite to Dec 2023.

I have just re-purchased my Ambassador membership and I now note my Diamond tier (old Spire elite) has extended through to 31 Dec 2023

My year ends on 30/3 so even that early extended my year to 31/12/23.
So the question becomes when do I buy my next Ambassador year. Methinks possibly december 2023.
