See JQ are making lots of changes, one I like is bigger seats (yeah right), just hope they are not like the former Star Class seats, when person has seat back can't get out to aisle.

Assume you’re referring to this paragraph:

In another move, Jetstar has dropped it's StarClass branding on long haul flights on its A330 fleet, now simply calling the larger seats at the pointy end of the plane Business.

That doesn’t suggest to me new seats, but just a reference to where the seats are. And there’s already a thread on the changes ;)

Looking at some pricing, what was $1k each way for *Class, is now $1k for Star class without FF points / SCs / lounge which previously was included in the $1k price. The "Max" pack which adds these things, adds about $350 to the cost each way.

looks like I read it wrong, pity we are going to Honolulu again in their (Star Class) business.

It seems to vary, depending on route and date.

Earlier this week I checked a HNL-SYD flight under the old system, and the Star Class fare was dearer than what's now listed for the standard Business fare; the Business Max Bundle fare is slightly dearer than the old Star Class, but there's not much difference in it (about $50 or so).

So on that route, on that date, the new standard Business is cheaper than the old Star Class - as it should be!

Fly JQ 29/30 Mel/Bkk/Mel a lot. 12 month average is $720 each way. Now MIN Business Max is $899. That is a 25% price increase. Not impressed. If QF tried to increase their J prices by 25%, well lets say they would never try that as they know what would happen.

What is the new standard Business fare (without getting points and credits)?

I guess the question now is whether the points/credits are worth the extra dollars to you ......

I don't understand why Jet* are changing the name of their premium product. People understand that *Class is not business class and don't have the same expectations.

This is applicable for both soft and hard product. Also, if someone purchases a business class fare on any airline then they would reasonably expect to have lounge access. I think this is the area where they may have made a mistake.

My experience with pre and post change fares is for a MEL-SIN *Class in Jan next year *FT SIN DO anybody?) and it was more than $100 difference. Still, I can only hope for a business class sale before then.

The HNL-SYD *Class flight which I had priced for November is now $200 dearer with the Max bundle pp

I'll now have to rethink how I will return from the US.

Not if they're travelling on any of the big airlines in the USA ........ Lounge access there is dependent on purchasing membership.

I posted this in the Members blog, but this thread is more appropriate
I was about to book a return flight on Jetstar Star class from Melbourne to Bangkok. I work in the region and have been travelling this route for three years. I now note that when you book you are given an option. For an extra $200 each way [/U][/B]you are able to claim frequent flyer points for the flight and use the Q club?????....What are they doing, I am a gold frequent[/U] flyer so the Q club is free. So Jetstar wants me to pay $400 just to gain some FF points. How is this good business....what are they thinking.
Just as a thought, if I am travelling Star Class, don't pay the bundle (why would you) can I still get into the Q club with my Gold FF card????

$400 for the points and status credits I guess. I'm looking at SYD-HNL August next year as I'll be tacking in a status run acrosos the US of A and back I'll fork out the $400 to add the SC's from the SYD-HNL-SYD flights.

Yes re accessing Q Club with your Golf FF Card or Q Club Membership.

According to the current QF Club access page, if you are traveling on a JQ ticket and you are QF Platinum or QF Gold or QF Club member you should get lounge access.

Clearly both Qantas and Jetstar have lost their way. I have been watching the comments re "Enhancements" etc, and TBH I am ready to explode. For a service industry, these two (one) companies seem to be all in to screw everybody out of whatever they can. As soon as they screw you over, they do it again.
I have been QF Gold for so long I cannot remember, the first time I got Pi$$ed was when they changed the earn from Km to miles, but redemption remained the same 199?. All of a sudden, instead of 1 point per km, it became one point per 1.6km (1 Mile) FFS we in Australia use Km, why did QF go to miles??? To screw us over. Its just gone on and on, and they really are a pathetic excuse for any service industry provider. Their lounges are cough, crowded and unkept, their aircraft are old dirty and, and in need of a revamp, the food is cough, the general attitude is VERY UN AUSTRALIAN for the national flag carrier.
On a positive not, staff are almost always professional, even if FAs are somewhat mechanical and indifferent in their service.
This year I wont even make Silver on QF, next year I wont even get a single point on QF, I now use Virgin as my sole domestic airline, and use their international alliances where possible, if thats not possible, I just use Zuji, and fly anyone EXCEPT QF.
How many times do people need to be kicked in the scrote before they wise up and use their feet. Thats the only way QF will learn... Maybe they wont, maybe they are just a closet Jetstar carrier, dying to come out of the closet. Pfffft to QF, you really do suck the big one

Yes, but if you are relying on the Status Credits earned by flying StarClass to maintain that Gold status, you won't be Gold for too much longer as without the Business Max bundle, you don't earn the Status Credits.

I'm disappointed the great value discounted starclass fares with J earning QFF points and SCs are now history. However IMO this is a very unbalanced outlook.

Sure for some people the latest Qantas group changes may result in a step backwards, but overall WR are getting more benefits/options.

Just goes to show, you can't please everyone.

I fail to see how these recent enhancements are "more benefits"..
Unless I have missed something..

It's the nature of airlines' "enhancements". When you see that word, run for cover.

As an aside, it'll be interesting to see how these underhand fare increases work for JQ. For me, I won't be paying $200 extra 1-way MEL-SIN. This route is very light as it is, so these fare increases may well just kill it.

Thanks..

Well that may very well be QF+JQ intention... As some QF Biz travellers have moved to JQ for 'better value'... and this way they are intending to bring those either back to the QF Fold or Pay for the QF FF benefits flying JQ..
I reckon we are to see many many more of such enchancements in Mr. Joyce's reign..
