Details are still fairly sketchy but I can confirm that you can now book one way awards at 50% of the cost indeed, as part of the imminent "stuff package" (c JonNYC) that's set to debut this weekend.

Just got off the phone with the EXP desk. I'd meant to book a OW120F TXL-LHR-MEL but was told by the AAgent to "hold off" until "new awards" have been loaded which could save me some miles; when asked to elaborate, he confirmed that you could now book one way All Partners awards at 50% of the cost.

Apparently the "new awards" will be bookable from 6am CT, in approx an hour...

I look forward to more details as they emerge.

Sounds nice!!

Something that AA was lacking (vs Qantas and some other airlines).

Hopefully they'll also add in booking online for other OW partners, but that's yet to be seen.

Await the developments with baited breath!

Booked for 80k miles:
TXL-LHR BA J
LHR-MEL QF F

Off to cancel my bmi award booking (TXL LH C FRA LH F SIN SQ F MEL) now and saving well over $1000 in cash and +++s. It's 30k extra for the AA booking but i get to fly QF F and save on the cash component. :)

QF009

You are a hero!

Looks like all changes loaded into AA's systems and now able to use on an SFO-BOS award flight in October that I was puzzling over

Thanks

Paddy

Just quering with an AAgent about looking LHR-YVR-JFK with a stopover in YVR.

They said that it must be split into two awards as it has "exceeded the maximum permitted mileage".

Huh??

Two things;
Many, many awards are mispricing right now-- in the way you describe.

HOWEVER, MPM and other revenue-fare rules -will- be applied to these awards.

Given that LHR-YVR-JFK is 7172 miles, it would seem that it has correctly applied the MPM rule in this case

Are the MPMs published anywhere?

Edit: I just saw that there's a published fare with an MPM of 4149. Is this likely to be the MPM for the AAdvantage award ticket?

Expertflyer will show MPM on MPM fares. Other sources as well , I'm sure.

The allowable MPM on a given award will be a higher number than the MPM on the published fare.

Just wondering if this will change my current plan to switch back to teh QFF program...

For me it seems like a benefit and reason to stick with AA. The only time I have wanted multiple stopovers is with a OneWorld award (so no change) and the ability to mix classes for each direction as one-way awards adds flexibility and value for me.

Very nice enhancement but I think I will remain the sucker and stay with the QFF program and earn Oneworld Emerald status while not worrying about fare class and continuing to purchase the cheapest airfares possible....

With EF, the easiest way to do it is to search for the YY fare and look at the routing rules and it will give the MPM

Generally I have found the MPM to be around 20% above the point to point mileage, so with LHR-JFK being 3452 , 4149 would seem about right

QF009, I am a bit confused with the new one-way Awards. As I read it, they are for AAnytime Awards only, not Partner Awards or OneWorld Awards. How did you get travel on BA & QF?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can someone please confirm that flights booked on AA through QFF will be at one-way rates. EG. SFO to JFK is currently showing 25,000 points - shouldn't this be 12,500 points?

Thanks in advance.

QFF has offered one-way awards for quite some time.
The points rates shown on the Qantas website are one-way rates.
The changes discussed in this thread relate to changes to the AA frequent flyer program - AAdvantage.

This change has nothing to do with redemptions using QF FF points. This only applies to AAdvantage redemptions using AA miles.

SFO-JFK is 2586 miles which is a zone 4 redemption in the QF FF program, which costs 25,000 QF FF points one-way.
