On my last two visits I have emailed the hotel concierge prior to arrival and organized either a car pickup or seat in the hotel mini van. I've forgotten the cost but they let you know in their response. Others I know have simply taken a local cab from the airport without any hassle which is also much cheaper. The drive is about 40 mins along the highway. Cheers.

About $50pp for "private car" (which is a van anyway) and about half that if taking the "shuttle". Children are 1/2 the adult price each.

We did "private" inbound so we didnt have to wait for other flights, and the "shuttle" shared service heading back to the airport.

Both were fine, on time etc.

They will advise you on current pricing (prior to confirming booking).

Just looked back at my emails - as of November, it was FJ$50/adult and FJ$30/child fpr the minivan.

Private car transfer was FJ$300 for the car.

Exchange at the time was about FJ$2 = A$1.

And my memory wasnt so great - we booked the van both ways! I guess there was just no-one else inbound on our flight so we got the van to ourselves. Travel time is about 1hr (depending on traffic will vary from slightly under to slightly over). The road (pre-their recent flooding) wasnt fantastic, but wasnt horrifically bad either, just slow one lane if you got stuck behind a cane truck. The drivers in both directions were very careful FWIW - would happily use again. The reason we didnt go for taxi is we had no idea how safe it would be and we could book a car seat for our son in the minivan (not available in taxi).

We'd happily go back to IC Fiji - we had a great stay, and on pointsbreak it's great value!

Time and distance have different definitions in Fiji - Bula :)
So true... As an aside, last time we went we took an extra bag full of school stuff such as writing books, pens, pencils etc as well as a few footys and the like for the kids in the village next door. The hotel will arrange for them to be collected if you send an email before you go. If you've got a bit of spare space in your bag, I can guarantee they are very much appreciated.

Can somebody answer two questions for me ... thanks:

Firstly, what is the last date of booking your PB stay ( for the current CP Sufers / IC Fiji offer ) ?? ( also, the stay must be completed by 31 July 2012 ... is this correct ?? )

Secondly, are you actually able to claim a 15% rebate from 'Mr. Rebates' ... even though you haven't actually paid for a Reward Stay ?? ( is this to say, that you claim a rebate on the 'usual' cost of the room you actually stayed - even though it was on points ?? )

+1 to this - we had a great holiday (doing little but relaxing at the pool/beach) but the school visit was by far the highlight and we'd definately take some things for the school - they always need books, paper, footballs etc.

So true, worked on a project for a year in Fiji, time pressure was felt unequally on us ex-pats I think, the locals were much more relaxed than us about delivering on scheule. Must admit at the time relaxed wasn't the word I would probably have chosen but who's to say they weren't right.

Would have to be +1 on any thing that gets you close to the locals, far too many people spend too much time in an isolated cocoon when travelling and there are many reasons why this is easy to do in Fiji but for me it's always those little expereinces where you get to meet loacls that really provide the memories. I'm lucky enough to have lived in Fiji and can absolutley say they are some of the loveliest people I've ever met, amazinglt friendly and yes the schools and kids will use whatever you provide.

Pointsbreaks properties are only on sale until the expiry date (July 31) or until their allocation of rooms run out which is an unknown number, however the good value properties such as the ICs usually go back to normal n a week max unless they are a dump. You get 15% back on the compensation paid to the hotel for the accommodation PLUS what you spend in the hotel and charge to the room account. Bookings at the rate can only be made for stays up until Aug 1 checkout.

if you cancel the booking at least 24 hours beforehand, do you forfeit the points?

No they are fully refundable, however the room does not get returned to the pool of Pointsbreaks rooms so if many people do this the property goes off special quickly without many having stayed at the cheap rate.

Thanks for your response Markis.
I hope to rack up just enough additional points for a weekend stay at CP Surfers in July.
Just waiting to see what Sydney IC give me for short stay this week.

You can always buys them, I keep 5K in the account, then when I need points I book a room a kakadu for a night for 5000 points + USD70, then cancel it, and get 10000 points for my $70 :)

Actually for IC Fiji I noticed that you need to cancel your bookings at least 7 days in advance to avoid penalty. So I think the cancellation conditional varies dependent on properties. You would need to check your bookings to verify the last date of cancellation without penalty.

Fiji has dropped off the list but is still bookable for a day or two via the normal reservations page then selecting rewards nights.

I checked various dates on IC Fiji a few days ago and they just made the dates not available for rewards.

They do appear to be booked out now for school holidays but late July is not an issue.

'He who hestitates ....'

CP Surfers has gone !!

WAS ... going to make a booking this weekend ( for July ).

Damn !! Was waiting on an online auction joint to sell a less desirable booking i have. Buyer failed to pay, so I've held back on the 2 rooms / for 2 nights booking I wanted to make at CP Surfers.
