I hear Qantas will take delivery of another domestic A330-200 later this year, (sorry if this has already been talked about). Is it true?

And if so, I wonder if they will cut the cough and have installed a half-INTL Business cabin, if you know what I mean? I think that would mean 18 SKYBEDS seats in the front section.

OR does anyone know if it's just going to be the standard domestic business seat?

Thanks friends!

There's one due for delivery sometime this financial year, I think VH-EBT is being skipped though, I heard VH-EBV.

It was slated for domestic.

(3K would be using A320's on the KL services!)

Are you suggesting that 18 Skybeds = 18 standard domestic Business seats in space, or 18 Skybeds instead of the 36/42 Standard domestic Business seats?

These beds are nice for domestic flights, but in reality I guess they are only necessary for the red-eyes leaving PER.

The problem by putting these beds in is you lose out on total PAX number, so who will take the hit, the airline with less revenue per flight, or the pax with higher costs?

The pitch for Skybed Mk I is 60"; with Mark II it is 80".

And lets say 38" for the standard domestic seat.

So if you were to use MKII, you could probably fit 2 standard domestic seats for every 1 MKII skybed.

Yes, 18 Skybeds in place of 36/42 standard business class seats. The economy seat count could still remain the same as EBO, EBP.

In the case of revenue, they don't always sell all the business class but in this case they could because there are only half the J seats...

Do you think reducing 42/36 seats down to 18 would make sense from a business perspective?

Yes and no. No from the Frequent Flyer Program side of things in regards to redeeming points for upgrades? But if they sold 18 J seats that would be good. I'm no business man, though.

The new QF A332 and JQ ones are configured the same anyway. Pretty much the only differences between the two are the colour of the paint used and the seat covers.

Sort -of - the original JQ332's have Millenium seats - the more recent QF ones don't.

Whilst its clear the new A332 is for domestic operations, it is unclear whether it will be fitted with 36 or 42 J seats. With JQ due to receive its first B787 next year, there is lesser of a need for QF to transfer the A332 to JQi which may make it a better option for QF to stick with a 36J configuration.

36J seats is a potential skybed config, but not sure they run between BNE and PER

Could be in luck with the skybeds... Last week EBI (intl config) operated once, and I've seen a couple services changed to A330-300's last minute.
