With the current one I can't get past the first couple of destinations as there is an error most times.

Is the error message "We are experiencing connectivity difficulties".?

This is what I get all the time when attempting a multi-trip booking, on the second leg...

Cheers, Leigh

I have seen that message sometimes, even when making a normal booking.

I have been receiving that error message in the last few days when making a multitrip booking - very frustrating

I know what you mean.... I've been getting the error message for about the past month when I have been looking at flights.... i

've called the frequent flyer number and mentioned it to them and had to make the booking through them.... they say they know nothing about it and can not do anything about it!!!

An (inconvenient) workaround for multitrip bookings is to search for each trip as a separate one-way journey.

I just pieced together a London-Shanghai-Melbourne trip (with a night in Shanghai) for early November.

Regards,
Leigh

However, doing that it becomes more difficult obtain the better value "oneworld" award levels. (Travel on at least 2 other (not Qantas) oneworld Alliance carriers required)

I think the previous poster recommended to break the trip down to one way trips to search for availability and to avoid the hassles the new award booking engine has with multi-city bookings.

It sounds like sound advice but definitely book as the one trip to take advantage of the Oneworld award levels. More than likely this will need to be booked through the QF service centre, and try to get the 2,500 FF point waived, as I am not sure the new award booking engine is capable of booking a Oneworld RTW award.

Has anyone been able to complete a Oneworld RTW award using the new award booking engine?

I have tracked down through persistance someone who works at Qantas Online-Sales (those that control the web engine). Apparently this is a known problem and Amedeus (who built the web engine) have a fix which is being tested & should be rolled out in a couple of weeks .

can someone do a dummy check for me please? :)

Syd to ABZ

2 x PAX
Depart 12th April 08
Return 29th April 08

Trying to work out whether I should join QFF and trasnfer my altitude points for the reward seats if there available..

I'm assuming about 128k each return???

Only outbound date around there is the 6th April, but there seems to be reasonable availability on the return

caveat: this is logged in using my QF Platinum account, so I don't know if this is coming from expanded inventory or general availability

Looks like only availability for outbound is SYD-FRA-LHR-ABZ on 6 April 08 and return ABZ-LHR-HKG-SYD on 19 April 08 no problem.

The above options quote at 128,000 FF points per person.

Am I the only one who thinks this tool is almost useless for checking availability and booking a Oneworld RTW award? I have been trying to check availability for a trip SYD-MEL-LAX-JFK-FCO-CDG-ATH-SYD and I am having constant hassles.

One day after entering in all the sectors I get time out issues and then have to enter all the sectors in again. The next day there are website issues. The next day there is no availability on a sector so I have to restart the search. If I have to change a sector then the rest of the sectors need to be re-input.

I guess the best way to check is to look at each of the sectors individually, which is a coughbersome exercise in itself, and then combine them into an itinerary to try and see availability and how much taxes and surcharges are involved.

Is there an easier way? I wish Qantas would bring back the old award booking engine. It was so easy to use and you could make changes in the middle of a booking....

Inconvenience web booking = Increase telephone sales = increase surcharge and profit :p
What do you think?!

Diesellife,

You are almost as cynical as I am :!:

Haha, I don't know if im being cynical or not. But lets be honest, has Qantas done enough to allow me to think otherwise?!

-Bad earn/burn rate for flights compared to other airlines. (I mean for the people who earned points thru flying)
-Booking fee for award ticket thru phone service (I don't think Qantas is a budget airline and therefore should not act like one)
-Bad ratio for oil surchage redemption (Previously worse than the gift card rate before the recent reduction)

I could list more but I guess thats enough to prove my point...
